Temp Check Summary
We are starting the conversation about funding for PolkaBounties our decentralized rewards platform built on Polkadot to grow the ecosystem. On PolkaBounties, users can discover, participate in and earn rewards from tasks and challenges provided by Polkadot parachains and ecosystem projects.
Tasks on the platform range from non-technical actions like creating content or executing a transaction on a protocol, to more advanced technical contributions like code development or protocol testing. With this variety, PolkaBounties is accessible to users of all experience levels, we want it to be the foundation of the relatiionship between contributors and ecosystem projects.
The platform’s current MVP is live and available to explore here. This early version demonstrates the platform’s potential by allowing projects to post tasks and users to earn rewards for their contributions. We have the MVP and early partnerships under discussion but additional development and funding are required to achieve more integration and adoption.
To date, we have engaged in conversations with both the Polkadot team and parachains to explore integration opportunities. These successful discussions position PolkaBounties as a promising system to accelerate adoption within the Polkadot ecosystem.
Platform Vision and Ecosystem Impact
We started building PolkaBounties to address a main gap in the Polkadot ecosystem: the need to incentivize participation and reward user contributions.
Our vision is to create a trustless rewards mechanism that benefits ecosystem participants in several ways...
Adoption because projects create tasks that promote user interaction. PolkaBounties drives meaningful engagement across Polkadot parachains which leads to increased address activity, higher transaction volumes and more awareness of ecosystem projects.
Open-Source Development as for more technical contributions, PolkaBounties incentivizes developers to collaborate on open-source projects and contribute to the health and growth of the ecosystem. Projects can reward technical tasks like bug fixes, feature development or security reviews.
Community Growth/Retention because PolkaBounties provides an avenue for ecosystem projects to reward community members directly. When they participate in tasks, users become more invested in the success of these projects and it creates a mutually beneficial relationship.
Decentralization as all interactions on PolkaBounties are logged on-chain which means we have a transparent and verifiable rewards system. Users and projects can interact without relying on centralized intermediaries so we align with Polkadot’s ethos of decentralization.
Proposal for Growth Funding
To scale PolkaBounties from MVP to a multichain platform, we are requesting 48,000 USD in DOT for funding. These funds are needed to add features like automated task verification, dynamic reward mechanisms and multichain support. We need to expand partnerships and collaborate with parachains to onboard tasks and challenges, because it is necessary to us to launch with a wide variety of rewards. Our focus will be also on user adoption, meaning we need to execute marketing campaigns targeting both contributors and projects to traffic to the platform. The funds would also support our operations and cover costs for hosting, maintenance to make sure the platform is functional and safe. The funds will be managed via a multisig wallet, with regular updates provided to the community for transparency and accountability.
Planned Enhancements
With the proposed funding, we will implement:
Ecosystem Impact: Proven Model
A similar rewards platform on Solana incentivized over 10,000 unique participants in its first year. These users contributed to tasks and the platform distributed more than $5 million in rewards which increased liquidity, engagement and adoption of new projects on the ecosystem.
Key outcomes included:
A 35% increase in active users for projects hosting bounties. Over 1,000 developers contributed to technical bounties which led to fast protocol improvements. Content tasks generated 50 million+ impressions, which helped projects take off. Such numbers show the potential for PolkaBounties to replicate this success and stimulate similar growth in the Polkadot ecosystem.
PolkaBounties can outperform these results by using Polkadot’s larger ecosystem and its amazing community. With Polkadot’s user base, PolkaBounties is uniquely positioned to bring even more significant growth and visibility for parachains and projects within the ecosystem. We believe this presents an exceptional opportunity for projects to expand efficiently.
Roadmap
-> Short-Term Goals (3–6 Months)
Refine MVP functionality with feedback from early users.
Pilot integrations with 3–5 parachains to onboard initial tasks.
Launch initial marketing campaigns targeting the Polkadot community.
-> Mid-Term Goals (6–12 Months)
Expand platform compatibility to more parachains.
Onboard at least 20 projects with active bounties.
Develop and launch premium features for projects like detailed analytics dashboards.
-> Long-Term Goals (12+ Months)
Increase the number of active users on the platform by 100% within the first year.
Facilitate the completion of over 10,000 tasks by participants and generate engagement across projects.
A minimum of active projects each month.
Improve developer participation by onboarding 1000 contributors to technical tasks.
Achieve a 25% increase in impressions and content tasks year over year.
Key Metrics for Success
We have thought about the following key performance indicators to measure the success of PolkaBounties:
About the Team
PolkaBounties is built by a team of experienced developers and ecosystem advocates. Build3rs Labs is a team of senior blockchain engineers with over 3 years of experience developing decentralized applications across the Ethereum Virtual Machine, Algorand Virtual Machine and Substrate ecosystems. We also have our Head of Marketing, Zachari, who sold his marketing agency to join us and develop strategies for user adoption and retention. Together, we have been granted by Nibiru Chain and Redlight Chain to build name service providers on their network. We have been granted by Compound, Balancer, Velodrome and Alchemix to build developer systems. We have won all hackathons hosted in Q4 2024.
On all our projects, our mission remains the same: to target developer growth and reward users for their active participation. We are committed to expanding the Polkadot ecosystem by creating an engaged community. Through PolkaBounties, we will provide developers with opportunities to contribute while offering users the chance to earn meaningful rewards. We will continue to accelerate the growth of Polkadot and we will make sure it stays one of the most dynamic ecosystems in Web3.
