Event date: 5-6. October, 2023
Requested budget: 1,500 USD
Description: This year marked the 20th jubilee edition, and a group of Polkadot ambassadors, namely Six, Gabo, and Viktor, managed to attend and represent Polkadot with a booth at the two-day-long event.
#HACKTIVITY is the biggest information security event of its kind in Central & Eastern Europe. About 1300+ visitors come from all around the globe every year to learn more about the latest trends of cybersecurity, get inspired by people with similar interests and develop themselves via presentations and comprehensive workshop sessions. Many rust developers, hackers and ethusiasts are present on each event. This is why we decided to bring Polkadot there, as the Web3 flagship project.
Our achievements
We engaged in lengthy conversations with all the individuals who visited our booth, and as a result, many of them expressed interest in the Polkadot Ambassador program. Additionally, we shared fundamental information about web3 as a whole and explained how Polkadot aligns with this vision.
From the web3 space, only Polkadot Hungary and ETH Hungary were represent at the event.
We prepared and decorated the dedicated space with roll-ups and also t-shirts from DOTPrague, which we had the chance to bring home to our community with the approval of the Czech Polkadot team, along with some other "leftover" merchandise from our previous events. The KODA team was delighted to see their swag distributed to people, which helped raise awareness for Polkadot and their project as well.
On the first day, Six conducted a workshop titled "Web3 Hacking Through CCTF Workshop," which had a full room with 15 attendees.
We set up a QR code linked to a Cognito Form page where we included 7 simple questions, including inquiries about the Polkadot Ambassador program and the Developer Hero Program. We also engaged in conversations with everyone who visited us at the booth, discussing Polkadot in general. The crowd was predominantly tech-savvy, but what stood out was that most of them had never heard of Polkadot and were barely familiar with web3. This presented a great opportunity to promote the web3 space, with a particular focus on Polkadot.
We successfully promoted our upcoming Hackathon in December and garnered interest from potential participants.
Additionally, we successfully showcased a brief Polkadot related video between presentations. You can also access this video with the Google Drive link.
Budget
We calculated our expenses based solely on our dedicated time for attending and representing Polkadot. Our hourly rate matched what we had at the DOTPrague event, which was $20 USD per hour, which covers our transportation as well.
We did not incur any additional costs for the provided decorations and swag items.
Furthermore, we were able to secure the booth for free due to our positive relationship with the event organizers.
We dedicated a total of 25 hours per ambassador to this two-day event, including preparation, which amounts to $500 USD per person, resulting in a combined total of $1,500 USD.
