My name is Abdulbasit Sadiq (Abdulbee). I am submitting this referendum to apply for the position of Polkadot Head Ambassador.
I joined the Polkadot Ecosystem in 2021 at which time I was initially focused on Polkadot content creation and helping communities understand more about the ecosystem. Since then, I’ve taken up multiple roles in the ecosystem including curatorial, auditorial, educational, and leadership roles. You can find details of my involvement in these roles in the section below.
I could write a 20-page paper on my vision as Head Ambassador, but I acknowledge the fact that this is an all-new and major revamp of the old program, and it’s not possible to truly lay down everything (or in how many ways) the expertise of Head Ambassadors could be helpful in the program.
However, I’d like to lay down specific areas that I’m particularly interested in while keeping in mind the fact that this isn’t written in stone, and other areas may come up in which I may like to contribute, as long as it is in the best interest of the network, fits the Tenets of Head Ambassadorship set by the token-holder community, and is an area of which I have expertise in (or working knowledge of).
This is something I’m particularly interested in, and one of the areas I’ve contributed the most to. I believe my knowledge of Polkadot Puts me in a position where I can confidently Write, chat, or speak (at gatherings, conferences, etc) about Polkadot (Mostly the application side, and to some extent, the dev side)
As with all new programs, there are going to be setbacks and a lot of trial and error when the new program kicks off. I would love to make my contributions (In collaboration with other Head Ambassadors) toward ensuring that the program gets off to a good start, maintains a healthy momentum, and is set up for success.
Polkadot can seem complicated at first, which makes it very easy for ambassadors to give up after some time of trying out the ecosystem. One of my visions as head Ambassador is to take ambassadors by hand, educate them, support them, and nurture them into becoming ecosystem stars who can confidently represent the network. New ambassadors are bound to have a lot of questions regarding the ecosystem, and Head Ambassadors need to be available to provide the necessary guidance needed for them to grow and become proficient in the ecosystem.
Another area I’ll be interested in is leading initiatives aimed at encouraging more community members to take on roles in creating, reviewing, and maintaining Open Source Polkadot KnowledgeBases like the Polkadot Wiki
Polkadot is a very dynamic ecosystem, and I believe the rate of creation and maintenance of content in KnowledgeBases can be increased multiple folds by motivating community members to adopt the Open-source culture.
Amidst these, I’ll be maintaining what I already do (and love doing) for the ecosystem: Helping Manage/Moderate communities and working with the Polkadot Anti-scam Team to fight Scam
