Short description: This proposal is intended to fund a series of efforts to educate the audience from Spain about Polkadot through one of the biggest daily newsletters in the country called Zumitow. The proposal covers 24 articles in the newsletter, 12 blog posts, 12 twitter threads and 12 short format videos about Polkadot tech stack and its ecosystem.

Context of the proposal

Zumitow (zumitow.com) is one of the biggest daily newsletters in Spain, with over 9,500 Subscribers and over 5K daily readers. Most readers (50%+) are eager to learn about blockchain technology and receive news related to the industry. We strive to be the go-to place for financial news in Spain for people between 25 and 35 years old.

Besides our daily newsletter, we have a set of constantly growing channels where we engage with our audience. Among these channels are our blog (with over 500 visits weekly), our Twitter profile (5.3K followers), and our video format channels, Instagram and Youtube.

So far, 88% of our readers claim to have learned something new from our content, while 10% said they refreshed some knowledge. Our tone is direct and didactic, and we try to be perceived as an easygoing source of information, similar to Morning Brew in the United States.

Problem Statement

Polkadot has made a considerable effort to get its name out there with initiatives like the Davos conference, Polkadot Decoded in several cities, and more. However, we have detected that much of the effort to promote the Polkadot brand in the Spanish-speaking sphere has targeted Latin America.

Meanwhile, Spain has a strong developer scene with over 300,000 devs, according to El Confidencial, making it the 5th hub for developers in the 27 countries of the European Union. The number of developers in Spain is considerably higher than those in Argentina (115,000), Mexico (225,000), Colombia (62,000) or Chile (61,000). Moreover, according to Google Trends, Spain is way above all countries in LATAM regarding search interest in blockchain.

The fact that Polkadot has focused its communications in Spanish so intensely towards LATAM, the Spaniard population has been left a bit behind and, therefore, there’s a missed opportunity to attract developers and community members from this region to the Polkadot ecosystem.

Solution & Proposal Objective

We will make the Polkadot story closer to the Spaniard population by educating our community and the broader market about the tech, the ecosystem, etc.
The solution would consist of 4 content hubs:

  • Our newsletter:We will include 1 article, twice per month, talking about one of the unique characteristics of Polkadot or its latest developments. This will redirect to the Polkadot Newsletter sign up page.
  • Our Blog: We will craft 12 dedicated blog posts covering, in full length, 12 topics about Polkadot, including its tech, ecosystem and recent developments.
  • Our Twitter account: We will craft 12 Twitter Threads covering Polkadot’s most important developments throughout the year.
-Our Instagram, Tiktok and Youtube: We will post 12 short-form videos educating the audience about Polkadot’s key features and recent developments.

All of this content will be made available for the public and will be crafted having the Spaniard audience in mind.

Our Audience

Our audience has the following characteristics:

  • Mainly Spaniards, with over 90% of our readers living in Spain.
  • 80%+ males, 25-45 years old
  • 72% are currently working
  • 50%+ are interested in blockchain education and news.

Timeline

The anticipated timeline for this project starts in February 2023 and ends in February 2024.The actual start date may be adjusted depending on the grant date.
