AIWeb3 Chinese Unit proposal (爱Web3 中文社区提案) - September, 2023 - March, 2024

After careful consideration and discussions with various peers in the wider Polkadot community, AIWeb3 has decided to resubmit its opengov proposal following a recent miss: https://kusama.polkassembly.io/referenda/261.

We believe that there is value in fostering the growth of Chinese content creators to continue enhancing awareness, as well as growing the Polkadot Chinese community.

Although we previously missed out we garnered significant support with 283 voters in favour versus 82 voters against, thus, we shall now be taking our proposal to Polkadot opengov instead.

Founded in February 2023 and supported by the Kusama treasury for an intitial 6 month period, AIWeb3 can be considered a play on words Artificial Intelligence (AI) with the decentralized web. While we anticipate that the future of web3 will harmonize the principles of "the law of code," AI, and decentralization, our name holds a more fitting significance. In Chinese, "AI" symbolized by "爱" translates to the word love, giving rise to "Love Web3". The name may have bought about some misunderstanding about what AIWeb3 is all about, furthermore, given we came from the WagMedia intiative then naturally most people just associate us with content production.

AIWeb3 covers Chinese educational content creation,community-building, AMA events in Chinese, provides native language asistance to ecosystem builders, and more.

For instance, we hosted a spaces AMA in August that had over 500 people tune in live, which isn’t bad considering how difficult it is to attract live audiences during the bear. You will often find us being involved on the Chinese discord channels for many of the ecosystem projects, where we will offer assistance as well as educate newbies by providing them the Chinese content that has been created.

From a community perspective, we currently have 10 active content creators, we also have our own dedicated discord with custom bots to make it easier for our growing Chinese language community of over 690 members. This isn't just about numbers, we want to establish an environment that grows genuine connections between users, creators, and our ecosystem builders.

We have educated our community on Polkadot projects not commonly known by Chinese audiences. For instance, not many have heard of Ajuna Network and would have missed out on all the fun with season 2 Awesome Ajuna Avatars. Recently, we have been tasked by Hashed Network to help them with hiring Chinese ambassadors to support their growth.

Whilst the Kusama funding was to cover a 6 month period, we have managed funds judiciously, in addition, we secured additional funds from parachains and ecosystem projects.

We're now working on the possibility of a comprehensive Polkadot Academy in Chinese, reflecting our commitment to education. We have reached out to Parity, and whilst this is still in the early stages, we have received materials and resources that we can use for a more structured pathway.

There are many others that help shape our community, all united by the love of our ecosystem and unwavering belief in holding DOT/KSM as well as various ecosystem tokens.
