PolkaWorld’s first vote on the proposal: NAY
Two-thirds opposed, one-third in support.
The proposal lays out ambitious goals — cross-chain architecture, asset bridge, orderbook DEX, EVM compatibility — along with a clear timeline (two 3-month milestones). However, it lacks concrete KPIs or measurable success criteria.
For example, it doesn’t specify:
• Number of active users, wallets, or transactions
• Target liquidity bridged (e.g., $1M USDT)
• Number of DeFi integrations with JAMTON and its liquid staking protocol

Truth DAO votes NAY
To this day, we still question whether building such a parachain is truly necessary. While Telegram is indeed an important ecosystem, SubWallet has already provided some solutions for DOT users within Telegram. Building a full-fledged ecosystem on TON would require a parachain, an application layer, and significant additional efforts — this is better suited for private fundraising rather than Treasury funding.
We also believe the technical implementation is highly complex. Bifrost previously explored launching a TON-based LST via cross-chain bridges, but due to TON’s opaque architecture and lack of a light client, a decentralized LST integration remains unfeasible in the short term.
The proposal also includes unproven components — such as an orderbook DEX and account abstraction — that would be developed for the first time, with no successful prior track record from the team.
In our view, profit-driven product development should not rely on Treasury grants.
Furthermore, the proposal lacks clear KPIs or measurable success metrics. For example, it does not specify:
• Target number of active users, wallets, or transactions
• Bridged liquidity goals (e.g., $1M USDT)
• Number of DeFi integrations with JAMTON or its liquid staking protocol

Dear Proposer,
Thank you for your proposal. Our first vote on this proposal is NAY.
The Medium Spender track requires 50% quorum (at least 5 aye votes) and simple majority of non-abstain votes according to our voting policy v0.2, and any referendum in which the majority of members vote abstain receives an abstain vote. This proposal has received two aye and four nay votes from ten available members, with two members abstaining. Below is a summary of our members' comments:
Several voters expressed concerns about the clarity of the project's objectives and the direct benefits for the Polkadot ecosystem, citing a lack of justification for treasury funding. Some highlighted the need for shared risk from the team and called for more concrete steps. However, a couple of voters were optimistic about the project's potential, acknowledging the team's enthusiasm and progress despite previous setbacks. Overall, there was a call for clearer communication and accountability from the project team.

✅ Why Vote YES
• Access to 950M Telegram users: JAMTON offers a strategic gateway for Polkadot projects to tap into Telegram’s massive user base via TON and its Telegram Wallet integration.
• Boost in ecosystem liquidity: Bridging DOT and TON unlocks new liquidity channels, potentially benefiting Polkadot DeFi, staking, and dApp adoption.
• Delivered traction: JAMTON has already launched a Polkadot parachain, a public dApp, and a Telegram Mini App—demonstrating tangible progress despite past funding rejections.
• Cross-chain infrastructure: Proposal covers development of cross-chain TON ↔ DOT applications, enhanced EVM compatibility, and a decentralized order book DEX.
• Synergistic growth: Encourages adoption of Polkadot tooling (XCM, staking, AMMs) from a new user demographic via a familiar interface (Telegram Mini Apps).
• Low-cost, high-leverage: For under $100k, Polkadot gains a parallelized layer connecting it to one of the fastest-growing ecosystems.
⸻
❌ Why Vote NO
• Unsuccessful past proposals: Two previous treasury referenda for JAMTON were rejected, raising concerns over clarity, community alignment, or execution.
• Unclear long-term adoption: While the tech exists, there’s limited evidence of sustained or growing usage beyond early launches.
• Overlap with existing bridges: Some may question whether JAMTON duplicates or competes with other Polkadot cross-chain solutions.
• Limited decentralization clarity: Governance, validator set, and protocol control details for JAMTON remain high-level.
• TON uncertainty: External reliance on TON’s trajectory and compliance could pose a risk for long-term alignment with Polkadot’s values and tech stack.
⸻
🎯 A bold strategic bet that could unlock massive growth and visibility for Polkadot—if JAMTON can drive adoption and maintain momentum.
JAM Implementers DAO votes AYE on this proposal.
It was a tight call, with 5 DAO members recusing. The proposal requested $99,200 to continue building JAMTON, a project aimed at onboarding users from the TON ecosystem into Polkadot. Some DAO members acknowledged the team’s persistence — they’ve kept building despite previous funding setbacks. Others appreciated the clean UI and the vision. But concerns linger.
TON still lacks liquidity. The product feels like a demo, with limited token support. And most importantly, there’s no clear metric for what success looks like. No user projections. No adoption milestones.
This vote signals cautious optimism, not a full endorsement. The team now has the greenlight. But they’ll need to prove they can deliver real traction. The DAO will be watching.
