PolkaWorld votes AYE

1.User-friendly XCM tooling is a critical need for the ecosystem

  • Polkadot’s core strength lies in its cross-chain capabilities (XCM), but interacting with XCM is complex and has a steep learning curve.

  • ParaSpell provides a visual, modular, low-barrier development toolkit that significantly reduces integration costs and speeds up dApp deployment.

2.High usage and strong reputation

  • The core XCM SDK has been downloaded over 97,000 times, the XCM API has handled more than 1.1 million requests, and the XCM Router has over 47,500 downloads.

  • Verifiable GitHub activity, user data, and long-term documentation maintenance show real adoption and sustained development effort.

3.Fully open-source, non-commercial, and publicly oriented

  • ParaSpell tools are completely free to use, with no commercial monetization plans, and serve as public infrastructure for the Polkadot ecosystem.

  • The team has clearly committed to maintaining the project even with limited funding—at a slower pace, but without abandoning it.

4.Comprehensive features and wide coverage

  • From SDKs and APIs to Router, Analyser, and Visualizer—ParaSpell offers a complete suite of tools.

  • It supports 48+ parachains and multiple bridging protocols, covering the full XCM lifecycle.

5.Previously recognized by W3F and OpenGov

  • Successfully completed 6 milestone-based Web3 Foundation grants and 4 maintenance proposals on Kusama.

  • One of the first maintenance proposals to pass with 100% support—reflecting strong community reputation.

6.Strong technical background and long-term ecosystem involvement

  • The two core developers are Polkadot Blockchain Academy graduates with academic backgrounds in cross-chain research, and have co-authored 8 international papers (IEEE, ACM, Frontiers in Blockchain, etc.). Both are full-time contributors.

7.Reasonable and transparent funding request

  • Monthly budget is $11,500, translating to a development hourly rate of $23.95—one of the lowest we’ve seen, with no salary increases requested.

  • $10,000 of the budget is allocated as a developer contribution incentive pool to encourage community collaboration and reflect an open-source spirit.

JAM DAO voted AYE on this proposal

Polkadot’s core value proposition is interoperability, but if developers can’t easily tap into XCM, we’re leaving that promise unfulfilled. ParaSpell’s SDK continues to close that gap — with DryRunApi, fee estimation, and now simplified cross-chain swaps and XCMv5 support, they’re making real progress.

We’ve seen evidence of adoption in live projects like Multix and Turtle, and support from multiple DAO members followed. While some members of the DAO abstained or recused due to potential overlap with JAM features, the broader consensus is clear: empowering devs with powerful, easy-to-use tooling is key to ecosystem growth.

We're supporting this proposal to help lower the barrier to cross-chain development and make Polkadot’s strengths more accessible.
