SUMMARY
- Polkadot’s social media accounts were formerly managed by a single centralized entity: Parity.
- Now, the management of Polkadot’s social media is decentralized; multiple contributors are creating content, including a 7 member Editorial Board (EB), aided by an Auxiliary (ET) that works closely with other marketing entities, to ensure messaging is aligned.
- Editorial Board Members serve a 6-month term. The members of the first iteration of the board were appointed by the Auxiliary, as detailed in the forum post above. In the future, they will be elected by the community of DOT holders.
- The EB is composed of 7 all-stars from the community. Their collective backgrounds are in business development, content creation, social media, marketing, technical education, venture capital, developer relations and other areas of expertise within Web3.
- The 7 members currently serving a 6-month term are: They are:
- Their mandate is to work with the community to increase the engagement and reach of Polkadot’s social media accounts.
- W3F has endorsed this decentralized concept, and has granted permission of the EB to post content via the Auxiliary (ET), which acts as an independent board observer. ET received a grant from Decentralized Futures to take the EB concept forward, and asked that funding for the EB be decided by the community.
- This proposal for compensating six members of the seven-member Social Media Editorial Board (EB). One of the members, Filippo, has declined to be compensated. The Auxiliary (ET), will not be compensated from this proposal except for a reimbursement of 42 DOT which was used to establish the multsig and verify it's identity.
REQUESTED ALLOCATION:
9426 ($90K EMA7 Price: $9.548) + 42 DOT for multisig creation and identity verification reimbursement to the proposer.
The funds will be paid to a multisig controlled by all 7 members + the Auxiliary. The funds will then be distributed to 6 of the 7 EB members. One of the members has declined to be compensated for their work.
The Auxiliary will not be compensated from this proposal, except for 42 DOT that was paid to create the multisig and verify its identify.
