  • High-value audience: 4-day Caracas conference introduced Polkadot to bankers, regulators & media—access we seldom reach in LATAM.
  • Concrete follow-ups: direct UNDP talks + SME leads create real adoption paths.
  • Bootstrapped effort: ambassadors self-funded; 250 DOT each is minimal versus visibility gained.

My vote is AYE. I believe this person takes the work of educating and representing Polkadot very seriously. Given all the effort and dedication they put into it, I consider this a significant tip

Thank you very much for your comments. I know that getting this kind of attention from large organizations isn't easy and requires a lot of effort (otherwise, anyone could do it). To ensure this reaches the entire ecosystem more effectively, the invitation is open to anyone who wants to join. Just indicate the specific topic you'd like to contribute to, and we'll be happy to coordinate these activities together.

Below is a list of the organizations that showed the most interest in continuing to move forward:

  • United Nations Development Programme (PNUD)
  • KPMG
  • EY
  • Delloite
  • SUNACRIP
  • Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV)
  • National Office Against Organized CrimeNational Office Against Organized Crime (ONCDOFT)
  • R4
  • Banco Mercantil
  • Venezuelan Banking Association

I strongly believe that we all build this ecosystem, and moving forward together would be ideal, let's build a better ecosystem together =)

On behalf of the 🌶️ Hungarian Polkadot DAO 🌶️:

According to the internal rules of the Hungarian Polkadot DAO, providing reasoning for an Aye vote is generally not required. However, in the case of this referendum, we are making an exception.
We are surprised to see that currently 15 million DOT have voted Nay on this referendum. In contrast, we have voted Aye for the following reasons:

• First and foremost, we believe that the proposer is a valid and respected member of the Polkadot community.

Is the contribution questionable?

Was it meaningful to attend the event organized by the Venezuelan Banking Association and talk about Polkadot and JAM?
In our opinion, yes, it was! If the event is organized by the Venezuelan Banking Association, it is likely to be a professionally recognized and relevant event, at least within Venezuela's financial sector.

• Was it meaningful to present Polkadot and JAM alongside other blockchain protocols?
Again, we believe it was. Photos show that in addition to Polkadot, other protocols were represented in some form. Had the proposer not taken this initiative, no one would have presented Polkadot at all, and Polkadot would not even be part of the conversation in these circles, if not for the proposer’s efforts.

• Was it meaningful for the proposer to introduce Polkadot to the head of the United Nations Development Programme?
In our view, yes! If the proposer hadn’t done this, nobody else would have. Polkadot would not be on the radar of institutions like the UNDP without such initiatives.

Questioning the proposer’s validity for presenting Chainlink in addition to Polkadot?
Based on available images and videos, we see that the proposer presented not only Polkadot but also Chainlink at the event. While some may criticize this, we do not see any issue with it. Chainlink is an important part of the blockchain industry as a leading oracle provider and is also connected to the Polkadot ecosystem. Should it be a problem if the proposer seeks rewards from multiple blockchain protocols for presenting at a regionally prominent event? We think not. Even members of the Polkadot ecosystem are involved with other ecosystems in some form (e.g., Solana Superteam members, Cardano Ambassadors, etc.).

We believe in being inclusive and not limiting members of the Polkadot ecosystem within its strict boundaries. It is valuable to build relationships with the banking and institutional sectors as well as with other blockchain protocols, and to stay informed about their development.

In conclusion:
We believe that Polkadot representation at this locally respected, banking-sector-focused event would not have happened if the proposer hadn’t taken the initiative to attend, present there.

Since there is currently no functioning Ambassador Program in the Polkadot ecosystem, we believe it is rational to request funding from the Treasury via OpenGov for initiatives like this one. To properly recognize and financially support such efforts, an Ambassador Program would be necessary. Until such a system is in place, we believe OpenGov voters should carefully evaluate proposals of this kind and provide funding when the contribution is justified. In our view, this proposal presents a reasonable case for funding.

Naturally, the above reflects our own viewpoint, and it's entirely possible that we have misjudged the quality or value of this contribution. If you believe that’s the case, feel free to challenge our reasoning and support your counter-arguments with evidence.

Dear Polkadot community,

First of all, I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has already cast their vote, as well as those who will do so in the coming days.

I would also like to express my deep gratitude to Simón for giving me the opportunity to participate in these activities, where we were able to highlight the work and inclusion of women in technology. We all know that participation begins at home, and for this reason, spaces like these are essential to showcase our abilities and strengthen diversity within the ecosystem.

I would like to clarify a few important points:
• We accepted this opportunity because it involved a leading national entity, which sets the standard for other institutions in the country and included the participation of major global tech companies.
• Thanks to this experience, we established valuable contacts and were able to hold relevant meetings with companies, banks, and international organizations.

In particular, I want to highlight a meeting with the Innovation and Development team of the PNUD, which was made possible through the joint efforts of Simón and myself. This meeting took place after noticing that some PNUD representatives had questions during the conference. As a result, we were invited to a follow-up meeting that included the Director and Program Manager for Venezuela, who expressed interest in exploring immediate collaboration opportunities.

These achievements are significant and have opened the door to future partnerships that we hope to share with the community in due time.

That being said, I respectfully invite those voting NAY to openly share their reasons. We value the diversity of opinions, but in order to move forward as a community, we need solid arguments and constructive dialogue—not assumptions or rumors. Moving backwards without a foundation is like walking in reverse, and that does not help the growth of our ecosystem.

As a woman in technology, I am proud of the work we’ve done—especially in highlighting women’s participation in a sector like banking, where many women are eager to innovate and transform their realities. It’s painful to see this contribution questioned, as if it had no value.

I am deeply grateful to those who have supported this process from the very beginning and who recognize the effort it takes to organize and carry out initiatives like this. I hope to see more similar activities in other regions in the future, and I also hope they are not questioned the way this one has been.

Finally, I want to remind everyone that many people in the Polkadot ecosystem also collaborate with or participate in other blockchain projects, which is entirely normal in an open and collaborative Web3 environment. We had the opportunity to be in front of major organizations, and we gave our best to represent Polkadot and highlight its potential in both the financial and technological sectors.

Just to clarify: Chainlink is not a blockchain, it's a company that provides technological services for blockchains—which I believe is important to note to avoid misunderstandings.

I close this message by once again thanking everyone who has believed in this proposal.** I’ve been contributing to Polkadot for three years, self-funding all my efforts through the work I do as a professional body waxing entrepreneur**. This is my way of contributing and showing that it is possible.

Thank you for reading and for continuing to build this ecosystem—together.
And as the saying goes: let the one who is without sin cast the first stone. 😉

With respect and care,
Angélica

I would like to congratulate Simon and Angelica for their efforts to communicate (in Spanish) how Polkadot technology can help and for offering to continue the conversation with different interested parties inside Venezuela, this a great achievement and I hope that this has real effects on improving the quality of everyday life of Venezuelans. In one of the videos I also heard you mentioning big events that are happening in LATAM this year (Colombia and Argentina) and I find this to be very valuable.

My appreciation is that in the last couple of decades, unfortunately many Venezuelans have left their country, this translates in the loss of many talents (although most still contribute to the country from abroad) but it also translates in Venezuelans (who live in their country) being motivated to improve their country by finding innovative solutions, including technology. I would think that the audience in this conference makes part of this 2nd group. They are key decision makers in the future of Venezuela. Based on this premise, I am very happy to see motivated members of the Polkadot community presenting at this conference.

I noticed that the name of the talk, according to the photos, is “Seminario Nuevos Modelos de Negocio: Web3 Blockchain y Activos Digitales” (New Business Models: Web3 Blockchain and Digital Assets). Could you please elaborate a bit on the ideas presented to the audience? Especially how Web3 was introduced and how the talk evolved until you reached the parts in the shared videos and photos about Polkadot and JAM?

Simon, is there maybe a recording of your entire intervention at the stage of this conference? Or could you share with us your slides?

PolkaWorld votes AYE

Presenting Polkadot and JAM at an event organized by the Venezuelan Banking Association holds some meaningful value. As a tip, 500 DOT split between two people is understandable.
