1. What is Dotinsights?

Dotinsights is a research and data-focused initiative by SubWallet, one of the leading non-custodial Polkadot and Kusama wallets. To provide a comprehensive and unbiased understanding of the Polkadot and Kusama Ecosystem, Dotinsights currently offers:

1. An exhaustive list of projects building in the Ecosystem on the up-to-date Polkadot and Kusama Ecosystem Map, with support from Parity Technologies.
2. A quarterly report series called Polkadot Deep Dive Report, which presents data in four main sections: Ecosystem Overview, DeFi, NFT and Web3. Data is sourced from trusted partners such as Subscan, Subsquid, Polkaholic, Parity Data Team, Santiment, CoinGecko, Token Terminal and DefiLlama, with support in verifying data from Parity Technologies, Bit.Country, Moonbeam, Astar, Acala, Aleph Zero, RMRK, Bifrost, Ajuna, Phala Network and more than 20 other teams in the ecosystem.
3. In-depth Polkadot Staking Reports that dive into analyses of overall state of staking, validator and nomination pools, with support from Parity Technologies Data team and data from Subsquid, Polkaholic and Polkawatch.

• From a social media perspective, Dotinsights has attracted more than 2 million impressions with an engagement rate always at an average high of ~3% (a good engagement rate is between 1% to 5%) after 1 year of release.

III. What problems is Dotinsights trying to solve? How do we solve them?

Before Dotinsights, both users and builders both inside and outside of the Polkadot and Kusama Ecosystem encountered many difficulties in generating a panoramic understanding of as well as deep insights into the Ecosystem due to its decentralized nature, resulting in data fragmentation.

Our solution:

As a team currently building heavily in Polkadot & Kusama, SubWallet realized the problem and understood our capability to address it from a builder's viewpoint. Dotinsights aspires to become a trusted research hub and data platform of Polkadot.

Below are the solutions we have been implementing:

Polkadot Deep Dive Report Series

Even though there have been reports on Polkadot in the past, they are not good enough: some attempt to explain Polkadot technology and foundational concepts in depth, such as Cointelegraph or Kraken Intelligence, some add on basic introduction and categorization of parachains like Arrington Capital or TokenInsight, some address Polkadot's development activities in relation to other ecosystems like Electric Capital, and some only delve into Polkadot with general data reporting without going into the specific activities on each of the parachains like Messari. In short, before Polkadot Deep Dive Report, there hasn't been a thorough research report that captures historical data of activities on Polkadot & Kusama on all levels of relaychains, parachains and dApps to track developing patterns and growing trends.

This presents a need for a regularly published comprehensive report series written by a skillful team with deep knowledge of the ecosystem. SubWallet took the initiative to publish the Polkadot Deep Dive Report, with data acquired from and/or verified by project teams building in the ecosystem which we have formed close relationships with.

Polkadot & Kusama Ecosystem Map

Before Dotinsights, the ecosystem was missing an ecosystem map that provides a panoramic view of the Polkadot and Kusama Ecosystem. This Ecosystem Map needs to list every project, maintain the list to be up-to-date, verify whether the project is legitimate or not. Also, it should offer the community a highly appealing interface with friendly & interactive user experience.

That means there is a gap that Dotinsights can fill and play a role similar to AwesomeNear and CardanoCube. Dotinsights provides a panoramic understanding of the Polkadot and Kusama Ecosystem that has never been presented to such a comprehensive extent before.

In-depth Polkadot Staking Reports:

Similar to the problem with ecosystem-wide reporting, there hasn’t been an in-depth analysis of staking on Polkadot like this one on Cosmos, despite the fact that economic security achieved through staking is a key factor of the system.

Therefore, the Dotinsights team collaborates with Parity Data team, Subsquid, Polkaholic and Polkawatch to deliver a detailed Polkadot Staking Report. The first issue was published in June to celebrate the first seven months of Nomination Pools on Polkadot.

Audience

The project Dotinsights targets everyone with an interest in the Polkadot & Kusama Ecosystem, from retail users, and developers to VCs both inside and outside the ecosystem.
