PolkaWorld votes AYE

Unanimous support from our team.

The Subsquare team has consistently delivered user-friendly products that we frequently rely on for OpenGov voting and other governance activities. They continuously improve their platform from the perspective of community users, making it significantly easier for more people to participate in OpenGov through their interface.

Additionally, the budget is clearly outlined, with reasonable costs and detailed breakdowns across infrastructure, maintenance, and development efforts.

Thank you for the proposal!

When looking over it, I asked myself on why we need Coretime support in subsquare? IMO one UI should not try to integrate all the possible things. Subsquare should focus on being the best governance UI.

TruthDAO votes AYE

The OpenSquare team has consistently delivered high-quality products with fast response times, and their work is secure and reliable.
The budget is transparent, and labor costs are reasonable.

They maintain a high-ecosystem-value product that supports Polkadot’s decentralization efforts, with excellent UI/UX and an already substantial user base.

✅ Why vote YES
• Critical governance infrastructure: Subsquare is the main interface for Polkadot governance, with over 260,000 monthly unique visitors, widely used by both users and delegates.
• Ongoing maintenance: Covers core tasks like server ops, bug fixes, refactoring, dependency updates (e.g., polkadot.js), and user support.
• Major feature upgrades:
• Profile page redesign with avatars, banners, delegation, proxy/multisig insights
• Full on-chain identity support: judgements, sub-identities, registrar activity
• AssetHub migration readiness: essential for upcoming changes in the relay chain
• WalletConnect integration for mobile users
• Enhanced support for proxies, multisigs, bounties, coretime, and UX (based on UX bounty audit)
• Better performance: Switch to Vercel improves global loading speed and stability
• Transparent and detailed budget: 3,810 hours of development, total request of $444,124, including infra, maintenance, and new features
• Trusted and experienced team: Active in the Polkadot ecosystem for over 5 years, with a strong track record of delivering updates

❌ Why vote NO
• High budget: $444k for one year might be considered excessive, especially without broader competitive benchmarking
• Limited open-source transparency: Some key components remain proprietary or undocumented
• Centralization risk: Governance UI heavily depends on a single team, which may limit ecosystem resilience
• Community input process unclear: Feature priorities are decided internally without structured community signaling

🎯 Subsquare is a vital governance frontend for Polkadot. This proposal ensures continuity and brings significant improvements—but also raises concerns about cost, transparency, and long-term decentralization.
