I witnessed some of the initial growth of Polkadot Americas and the initiative seemed to have a lot of potential. I was even invited to participate in several of their live streams at one point. Some of the team members were very active and dedicated. However, as of now this activity seems to have slowed down and the streaming seems to have stopped, as well as activity on the telegram group.

My current questions are:

  • what is your plan moving forward and/or have you decided to stop all activities until funding is obtained?
  • have you considered requesting USDT/USDC instead of DOT?
  • have you considering coming to a platform such as AAG to present your proposal?

Hello Florentina, great to hear from you! And of course, you witnessed the growth of the community. For the moment, we have paused the streams since planning and executing the programs requires effort, time, and funding. However, the Telegram group remains active, with its natural highs and lows in participation.

•	Our activities, such as the weekly programs, will resume next week. The past month was a short break to focus on submitting this proposal and waiting for the results.
•	We chose the DOT token since several members of the proposal prefer to hold DOT instead of USDT.
•	We will be presenting at AGG next week, and we are currently waiting for feedback and comments from the community.

Dear Proposer,

Thank you for your proposal. Our first vote on this proposal is AYE.

The Small Spender track requires 50% participation and simple majority of non-abstain votes according to our voting policy v0.2, and any referendum in which the majority of members vote abstain receives an abstain vote. This proposal has received two aye and zero nay votes from eight available members, with three members abstaining. Below is a summary of our members' comments:

Members expressed support for funding the community’s past efforts while raising some concerns about the proposal’s overall impact. One comment noted positive personal experiences at previous events, believing that the community’s activities and steady growth justified the moderately small funding ask. Other voters raised reservations regarding the effectiveness of outreach and the magnitude of impact achieved, with some abstaining from voting after advice from regional members. The comments reflected an appreciation for the work done through live content and social media engagement, balanced against caution about whether the funds adequately translated into broader community growth or a significant regional influence.

The full discussion can be found in our internal voting.

I truly appreciate the intention to unite the region and the focus on technical education. That said, I believe it’s important to first see clearer evidence of complementarity with existing communities, concrete milestones, and measurable results before allocating funds. I’m always glad to see new initiatives emerge and encourage you to keep building, once the numbers speak for themselves, I’ll be happy to vote AYE. For now, I feel the proposal is a bit premature, so my vote remains NAY.

Who's is representing this Polkadot Americas in Brazil and Argentina?

My first vote is aye. The ask is small, the team has already delivered broadcasts, meetups, and scholarships, and trusted community members recognize their contributions. Sure it would be great if there was more traction to point to in terms of following/reach, but you have to start somewhere, and this feels like a fair recognition of that work.

Looking ahead, I’d prefer to see local events covered through Roots or the Events Bounty, and any marketing needs taken to the Marketing Bounty.

Le Nexus voted NAY!

We acknowledge the value of the content and community-building done by Polkadot Américas earlier this year. However, the recent slowdown in activity raises concerns about long-term commitment and sustainability. Without a clear plan to ensure continuity, we cannot justify treasury funding at this stage.

Despite our score bias towards the ignition of new efforts, this has not reached a high enough score to entail a positive vote.
