During Q2 2022 our Polkadot RPC node served on average **4,176,442** requests per day, and in total we served **375,877,980** requests.

During Q2 2022 our Statemint RPC node served on average **218,805** requests per day, and in total we served **19,692,450** requests.

During Q2 2022 our Westend RPC node served on average **291,186** requests per day, and in total we served **26,216,640** requests.

Polkadot RPC services Dwellir Q3 2022

- Manta.Network has created a privacy solution for DOT/SAMA using zkSNARKs over the last 1.5 years.
- They launched Dolphin Testnet V1, which had over 60,000 transactions and received positive feedback.
- Dolphin Testnet V2 improved performance, making transactions faster.
- OpenZL is an open-source library helping developers use zero-knowledge proof systems more easily.
- The library has three parts: gadget libraries, an embedded language called eclair, and adaptors for different proof systems.
- Various projects, such as Acala and KILT, are interested in using OpenZL.
- The project has a total budget of $1,010,500 for development, security audits, and more.

# Background
During the past 1.5 years, We ([Manta.Network](https://www.manta.network/)) developed the on-chain privacy solution for DOT/SAMA eco-systems using zkSNARKs, here are some highlights:

**Dolphin Testnet V1(unincentivized)**

- 60,000 + transactions
- 6,000+ distinct addresses
- send more private transaction powered by zkSNARK in 3 months than Tornado.cash in 1 year

As the first project in the substrate space (and very few in the entire Web 3 space) working on zero-knowledge-proof based developed, we experienced a lot of difficulties in terms of ZKP tooling. As a result, we developed a lot of internal tooling that could benefit peer substrate teams deploying zero-knowledge-proof techniques securely and quickly into their project.

# OpenZL Design

OpenZL is an open-source library that helps practioners (especially in Web3 space) to develop and deploy secure, high performance zero-knowledge proof code in production. It tries to bridge the gap between low level cryptographic primitives and devlopers' need to build scalable protocols using zero-knowlege proof cryptography securely and quickly. More specifically, many developers today want to leverage zero-knowledge proof systems to build powerful protocols like ZCash/Manta/ZKSync. However, they are facing two less than ideal choices; first, building a protocol using high-level languages like [Circom](https://docs.circom.io/) or [Cairo](https://www.cairo-lang.org/) loses many performance optimization opportunities, and second, building the protocol directly using libraries like [arkworks/groth16](https://github.com/arkworks-rs/groth16), [zk-garage/plonk](https://github.com/zk-garage/plonk), or [microsoft/nova](https://github.com/microsoft/Nova) requires expertise in cryptography and can be very error-prone. Also, zero-knowledge proof systems are a moving target. There have been many new, and "better", proof systems coming out every 2-3 years ([BCTV](https://eprint.iacr.org/2013/879.pdf) -> [Groth16](https://eprint.iacr.org/2016/260.pdf) -> [Plonk](https://eprint.iacr.org/2019/953) -> [Nova](https://eprint.iacr.org/2021/370)). OpenZL tries to solve this problem by building flexible, proof-system agnostic, and extensible libraries for Web3 practitioners.

OpenZL consists of 3 parts:

- Gadget libraries: a library of gadgets that developers can use as building blocks for their protocols. The initial range of the gadgets includes accumulators (merkle tree with zero-knowledge membership proof), zk-friendly hash functions (poseidon hash), and commitment schemes. The gadget libraries are programmed in eclair.
- Embedded Circuit Language And Intermediate Representation (eclair): An embedded DSL in Rust that describes circuit logic. eclair leverages Rust's expressive type system to rule out certain classes of errors during the circuit construction.
- Adaptors to Proof Systems: Adaptors that convert circuit logic in eclair to the constraint systems used in different proof systems. The initial supported proof systems are arkworks/groth16, zk-garage/plonk, and microsoft/nova.

## Budget and Execution
After the completion of milestone 1, the oversight committee will evaluate the technical merits of the OpenZL and decide whether or not to release the fund to Manta Ray Lab (the dev company of Manta Network).





OpenZL: Common Good Zero-Knowledge-Proof Library for Substrate Builders

- The Polkadot Treasury Proposal extends the maintenance and support contract with the Polkadot Ecosystem from April 1, 2022, to June 30, 2022.
- Polkascan Foundation maintains Python libraries for the Polkadot ecosystem, funded partly by Web3 Foundation grants.
- Notable users of these Python libraries include LocalCoinSwap, Rotki, and Patract Labs.

Speck Wallet - A new user-friendly wallet extension for the Polkadot ecosystem

- The Polka Haus team helped organize an event called Decoded 2022 in Buenos Aires.
- They planned to spend $238,992, but only got $182,902 to help cover costs.
- They needed more money to pay for the whole event.
- The team wanted to reimburse a group called PureStake for extra costs.
- The community decided to use a treasury proposal for a bigger amount instead of a small tip.
- The current value of DOT was around $6.97 when the calculations were made.

**The Polka Haus** team volunteered to cover the organisation and execution of Decoded 2022: Buenos Aires Chapter. Due to the recent volatility in the markets, the Polka Haus team budgeted the total costs of their original treasury proposal to be USD 238,992 but has received the equivalent of 182,902 USD (transferable value). - The PureStake team organized the Decoded 2022 event in New York.
- They planned to spend $500,000 but have only $362,708 available.
- To make up for the missing funds, they need more money in DOT.
- The community decided to use a normal process to reimburse PureStake instead of a quick tip.
- The current DOT rate is about $6.97, but the team received funds at $7.18.

Substrate integration in web3alert.io

- This proposal aims to grow the Polkadot Spanish community.

POLKADOT EDUCATIONAL HUB IN SPANISH (Milestone 3)

- Subsquid provides data indexing for the DotSama ecosystem, which includes Kusama and Polkadot.
- Archives help access on-chain data in a user-friendly format called GraphQL.
- These archives support around 35 Substrate blockchains.
- In a recent 3-month period, they handled over 1.2 billion queries.
- Kusama and Polkadot chains are popular, with millions of queries each week.
- The cost to run these archives for Polkadot and its parachains is about $16,044.40.
- A public Archive Registry keeps track of available archives.

## Ongoing costs for the running of high performance, scalable, and reliable data indexing infrastructure for most of the DotSama ecosystem (and growing).

Archives are an important piece of DotSama data infrastructure provided by Subsquid. They provide access to on-chain data in GraphQL format for all major parachains on Kusama and Polkadot, with more chains added as the ecosystem grows. They are being used as a data source for Squids and for efficient data exploration and ad-hoc queries. An up-to-date list of Archives is kept in a public Archive Registry
All archives can be accessed and queried via an web intuitive GraphiQL interface and are often used as developer friendly replacement of a block explorer.

Over the last 3 months (March, April, May 2022) we've provided a free public data indexing service for ~35 Substrate blockchains (some archives have been dismissed, new ones have been added), so that everyone interested in the projects can publicly access indexed data on Substrate Events, Extrinsics, Storage Items and EVM logs.

Between 2022-03-20 (when tracking has started) and 2022-05-06 Subsquid’s Archive infrastructure has collectively:

- Served a total of 1,213,705,478 (1.2 billion) queries
- The highest daily total was 394,214,930 responses in a single 24 hour period
- Our 7 day average at the end of this period is over 25 million responses each day.
- Kusama and Polkadot chains represent a very important share of the demanded data, with 10 and 2.8 million queries per week, respectively

This treasury proposal supports Substrate pallets that allow developers to launch a gated marketplace for graded assets that can be fractionalized in configurable quantities.

## Graded Assets and Marketplace
### Example Use Cases
#### Coins and Cards
Sports memorabilia and historic or rare coins have long been collected as a hobby and store of value. Sports memorabilia alone is estimated at $5.4 Billion, but has a reputation for fakes. A common marketplace for these is eBay, and in their buying guide, they recommend having cards graded: 

> These independent organizations evaluate a card for authenticity and quality. Many use a 10-point grade scale. They then secure the card in a sealed, tamper-evident plastic holder complete with a certification tag, grade designation, and other pertinent card information. Graded cards command premium prices and allow collectors to buy and sell with confidence. 

The grading organizations provide a physical representation of their certificate and grade embedded within a plastic holder, but these attestations lack digital verification and trust. 

#### Diamonds
We previously built a blockchain-powered, cooperative marketplace for diamonds. Since it is a complex process requiring a special skill set and instrumentation, and there is a high incentive for fraud, all diamonds must be graded by a community-approved grader (e.g. Gemological Institute of America or IGI). 

Once graded, these diamonds are then purchased by the [Diamond Standard Company](https://diamondstandard.co/technology), where they are molded into pucks of equal value, stored in a secure vault, and minted on the Ethereum main net. #### Tax Credits
In many areas, tax credits offered by governments are transferable from the credit earner to other taxpayers interested in redeeming the credits. It is often the case that a credit may be earned by a person or company that does not have enough of a tax burden to leverage the credit. However, the validity of a tax credit requires an assessment from a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), lawyer, or other trained professional. 

The grader must review a credit owner’s documentation and evidentiary materials to determine if in fact the credit will be honored by the taxing authority (government). 

### Pallet - Graded Assets and Marketplace
This pallet will support the selection and approval of graders, accounts that will perform asset verification or assessment on behalf of asset owners. Similar to the Identity pallet’s registrars, these parties may have a corresponding fee for their services, and the community’s trust in their attestation is secured by their reputation.

#### Asset Redemption
Some graded assets in our use cases also require a specific skill set or equipment for asset redemption. The pallet will also support this functionality, where again the redeemer pays a fee to a redemption specialist for the service.

The pallet will be compatible with the prebuilt Uniques pallet.

## Fractional Uniques
### Example Use Cases
Some of the above mentioned use cases are fractionalizable, meaning a new asset may be spawned from an existing one and the new one inherits the attributes of the parent. Here are more details on these and other relevant use cases for this pallet.

#### Commercial Leases
When a commercial office space lease is signed, it becomes a future promise to pay the rent from the renter to the owner (landlord). This instrument can be sold or used as collateral for borrowing. The landlord may sell it shortly after executing it in order to receive capital immediately. It would be sold for less than the face value due to the risk and time-value-of-money. The difference between the sales price and the face value is the return awarded to the buyer.

Leases are typically monthly, and each individual month is a separate future promise to pay. The leases can be fractionalized into monthly units where each one has a different value because the time to receipt is different.

#### Cannabis Traceability and Regulation
The 'war on drugs' has failed, and cannabis legalization and regulation is sweeping free cultures around the world. In the United States, cannabis has remained prohibited at the federal level, and the regulation is happening at the state-level. Nearly all 50 states have some form of cannabis regulation, with the trend towards more support for allowing and taxing recreational cannabis.

Although each state applies a bit of nuance to their specific rules, one rule remains consistent. All cannabis material must be closely tracked and accounted for. Growers purchase a bag of seeds, such as 100 seeds of a single strain. These are placed in water to germinate, where some will succeed and others will not. Of the successful ones, some are planted into a cube of potting soil substrate and others are frozen for safekeeping.

The cubed plants are grown to become "mother plants", where the yield, potency, and other traits are closely measured and monitored. These mother plants spawn clones and also flower that is dried and packaged. The flower is sold, often to a dispensary, where it is sold to the consumer.

At each of these steps, a new Universally-Unique-Identifier (UUID) is assigned to each unit, where its characteristics and weight are recorded. Test results, images, videos, PDFs, and other files or content can be attached to each UUID, and by default, each UUID inherits the parent's attributes. These attributes may also be overwritten, and/or uninheritable attributes may be added to each UUID.

In the context of the pallet, each UUID is a fractional unique. We are actively modeling this with [growers](http://nuponixlabs.com) in the state of New York, where recreational cannabis is legal and the details of licensing and regulations are actively being decided. We think a blockchain-enabled platform on Polkadot would be a compelling solution for more transparency and regulatory compliance in this fast growing industry.

### Tax Credits
Tax credits are earned or created with a specific face value, determined by the taxing authority and corresponding asset grade. Buyers of the tax credit may not have a tax liability equivalent to the face value of the credit listed for sale. It is common practice for the owner to split the credit into a child asset in the precise amount desired by the buyer. 

Signaling even more interest in this space, in a [recent report](https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/22/04/26859007/goldman-sachs-explores-nfts-in-the-context-of-financial-instruments), Goldman Sachs reported that they are “exploring NFTs in the context of financial instruments”.

## Pallet - Fractional Uniques
In terms of data structure and functionality, tax credits, commercial leases, and cannabis units all can be modeled as fractional uniques/NFTs. 

Each use case requires:

1. Attaching any various data elements or supporting materials (e.g. files)
2. A parent-child relationship:
- Each NFT starts as a root and supports spawning 0..n child NFTs.
- Each child NFT inherits attributes and data from the parent, but may also override them.
3. Numerical constraints may be applied to each NFT, for example: 
- Sum of all tax credit children must match the original face value of the root. 
- Sum of the weight of cannabis must be tracked and enforced, even what goes to "scrap". 
- Face value of a lease is the sum of its years, quarters, months, and weeks.

Just like graded assets above, the pallet will be compatible with the prebuilt Uniques pallet.

## User Interfaces
We will build polkadot-{js} style web user interfaces for all functionality. Since these components are general purpose, high fidelity screens and interfaces will be developed by individual use case projects and are beyond the scope of this proposal.

User on-boarding functionality for registering, configuring, and approving asset graders by an asset class.

This milestone is for developing the Fractionalizable Uniques pallet, including spawning, attribute inheritance, and hierarchical numeric constraints.

### Phase 3
This milestone is for development of the marketplace and settlement processes, including listing for sale, accessing lineage/descendants and attributes, making offers and purchasing, accepting offers, and settlement with fees and commissions.

- The Moonbeam team is organizing a satellite event for Polkadot Decoded in New York City.

- Moonbeam is known for its compatibility with Ethereum and multi-chain applications.

The Moonbeam team plans to host a satellite event for Polkadot Decoded, dedicated to our community in North America. This conference will be held in New York City from June 29-30, 2022, and will include two full days of talks, panels, and workshops; provided by multiple parachains in the DotSama ecosystem.
Moonbeam, the Ethereum compatible parachain in Polkadot, has rapidly become a top destination for multi-chain applications with an EVM-compatible environment. - Unique Network, Moonbeam, Acala, Parallel Finance, Phala Network, and Bifrost are teaming up.
- They will host a meetup during Polkadot Decoded Shanghai 2022.
- The event will focus on XCM/XCMP collaborations.
- There will be talks and sharing of ideas at the meetup.
- An afterparty is also planned for everyone to celebrate.
- The teams are working together to write and submit the proposal for the event.

Unique Network, Moonbeam, Acala, Parallel Finance, Phala Network and Bifrost are planning to co-host an in-person parachain team meet-up to further share XCM/XCMP collaborations and to celebrate the closing of Decoded Hangzhou.

Polka Häus plans to host an event for Polkadot Decoded, dedicated to our community in South America. This conference will be held during June 29-30, 2022, and will include two full days of talks, panels, and workshops on the most important topics for Polkadot in the last year and what is to come. The Polka Häus team will run the end-to-end organization (from the planning to the execution) of the Polkadot Decoded event in Buenos Aires.

The Polka Häus community was formed as a result of the Clubhouse audio app; it has since evolved into a diverse group of people with various levels of expertise participating in a multitude of activities hosted by the team on both digital platforms and real life. Today, the Polka Häus team captures community attention by sharing high level concepts and technical information within an approachable framework. This approach broadens the knowledge base within the community (and beyond it) in an inclusive way, as well as providing a valuable platform for Dotsama projects to reach an active community. The Polka Häus stage has been available to any team building anything of value in the ecosystem and we intend to carry that spirit forward.

- Phala Network is hosting a party on June 28, 2022, in Seoul, South Korea.

- The meetup aims to connect people from the Korean DotSama community.
- Rhee, a Polkadot Ambassador, is part of the Phala Team and will help host the event.

Just like Moonbeam Team plans to host a satellite event for Polkadot Decoded dedicated to North America community, Phala Network plans to host an evening event to celebrate the opening of the Polkadot Decoded conference, and the event venue will be located in Samsung District in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea. This offline meetup will be held on June 28th Tuesday, 2022, and will include Web3 talks, featured panels with Klaytn(local Substrate Partner) along with Networking Party in the evening; provided by multiple parachains and Substrate Devs/partners in the Korean DotSama ecosystem.

We know some individual decoded 2022 speakers are from South Korea: indicating that there are local Polkadot ecosystem followers committed to community building, but unfortunately they can only be broadcast live online. But luckily Rhee, Polkadot Head Ambassador(East Asia), is also a core member of Phala Team: so we can take this opportunity to deepen the development of our local community and promote the Polkadot ecosystem by creating a relaxed atmosphere, where we can educate attendees about the latest developments on the ecosystem and the Web3 vision.

Nova Wallet Proposal: DApp browser, Statemine/Statemint integration, NFT support, Staking & UI rework and improvements

This proposal is for the first in a series of Web3 workshops delivered by SydTek DAO and Women in Blockchain Canada. The first session will take place at the AIBC Americas Summit on June 7th in Toronto, Canada, and will be delivered via a Web3 Masterclass by Dr. Justin Goldston and Justyna Osowska. The subsequent sessions will be delivered online at a later date within Bit.Country, a metaverse within the Polkadot ecosystem. In the event that live streaming will not be ready in Bit.Country, a contingency plan is in place to deliver the Blockchain 201 and 301 workshops in Cryptovoxels.

The purpose of these events are to get more people, namely more diverse users, within the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystems, and we will initially target students within the higher education sector. In an effort to bring in more developers into the ecosystem, we look to market across the SydTek DAO, Women in Blockchain Canada, and the Polkadot (upon approval) social media platforms to bring more users into these workshops.

Also, to save on travel costs, the presentation below also includes travel expenses for an event at Georgetown University for Tranche Two where three members of the team will educate students and policymakers on Web3, blockchain, and Polkadot. As Dr. Goldston is a Graduate Advisory Board Member at Georgetown, he has been discussing blockchain and Web3 with Georgetown administration and policymakers in the United States as of late. Proposal for Educational Series at AIBC Americas Summit and Virtual Events

- Sonal Banerjii creates educational content for Urdu speakers in the crypto world, especially for people with special disabilities.
- She has received tips for her work supporting the community.
- Many people with disabilities struggle to find crypto education, which is important for including everyone in the industry.
- Sonal's proposal is to make 30 videos explaining crypto basics for people with special disabilities.
- The project needs sign language interpreters, content creators, and editors to help make these videos.
- The total funding requested for this project is about $39,600, and they have completed 80% of the videos.
- Workshops are also being held in different cities to promote education.

My name is Sonal Banerjii. You can find me on riot as **@sb_ksm:matrix.org**.  I have been writing documentation and translating Polkadot and Kusama content for the Urdu speaking community. I’ve been awarded multiple tips for my efforts towards the community.

According to the World Report on Disability  by WHO from 2011, the most marginalised people when it comes to education are not the poor but rather people with special disabilities. Particularly in the crypto space, these folks are being widely excluded from even providing them the basics of crypto education.

It’s our duty to include newcomers into this industry through educating them properly and while there will always be people that are not willing to put in the time, we’ve seen over and over again that there’s many that do want to learn more, but simply can’t find good educational sources to do so. 

Since Polkadot is one of the most used crypto platforms and we’re seeing so many folks getting acquainted with it, I believe opening up such a learning opportunity by teaching them just the basics would bring about a revolution in the crypto space.

Our goal with this proposal is to create 30 educational videos geared towards people with special disabilities with a focus on explaining the basics. Based on my research with sign language interpreters as well teachers and other creators in this space, creating sign language based videos require a couple of people including:

- Sign language interpreters
- Conceptual content creators
- Instructional designers
- Visual story makers
- Editors

Connecting and getting all of these folks on board does require some funds and hence the need for this proposal.
