UI & Front-end for Asset Conversion pallet (referenda68) - Project Status Update - Delivery Completed

This project aims to create a new metadata protocol for offline devices and implement it in important tools like Ledger and Kampela. The project will also develop tools to port the protocol to other wallets and key management devices, including Polkadot Vault. The goal is to improve transaction security and network resilience.

The project is a joint development between Alzymologist Oy and Zondax. The main problems to be solved are the large size of metadata and ensuring its authenticity. The proposed solution includes adding a hash of metadata to signing inputs and reducing the size of transferred metadata.

The project has four milestones:

1. Requirements specifications and metadata review.
2. Offline metadata prototype.
3. Offline metadata specifications.
4. Offline devices implementation.

The total cost of development is €527,200, with an additional 2% for potential price volatility, totaling €537,744, which translates to 110.693,7 DOT. The funds will be deposited into Alzymologist Oy's account, and they will subcontract Zondax AG for 45.5% of the total amount of DOTs to cover their costs.

The project team includes Alzymologist Oy, a multidisciplinary team based in Finland, and Zondax AG, a team with experience in more than 50 blockchains.

In December 2022, AngelHack proposed to run two Polkadot Global Series hackathons in both the Europe and APAC regions for 2023. This was done in effort to continue bridging existing gaps within the Web3 space through active engagements with the ecosystem teams and wider Polkadot community. Subsequently, the forming of such stronger connections within the community will also allow for easier onboarding of more developers across a diverse range of backgrounds. 


We have since embarked on our Global Series hackathon in Europe (by extension, Africa as well) with the following objectives and criteria.

- Providing a detailed recap of the recently concluded virtual **Polkadot Hackathon Global Series: Europe Edition**, as well as the in-person **dotSocial: Paris** event that took place during Paris Blockchain Week 2023.

Milestone 2: Polkadot Hackathon Global Series 2023: Europe Edition

- OpenZeppelin reviewed the ink! smart contract language and found 11 issues.
- This proposal is for more support for OpenZeppelin’s work.
- The Parity team worked well with OpenZeppelin during the review.
- The final report is available on OpenZeppelin’s blog.
- The ink! team has acknowledged all the issues found.
- Two issues have been fixed, and seven suggestions have been put into action.
- The remaining issues are still being worked on.

Given the successful completion of OpenZeppelin’s security review of the ink! smart contract language & Substrate’s smart contracts pallet, this community proposal is for the second installment supporting OpenZeppelin’s work. During this engagement, OpenZeppelin identified 11 total issues within the codebase. We are pleased to report that working with the Parity team throughout this process has been fantastic.

OneBlock, in collaboration with Parity Asia, successfully organized, operated and promoted the four Polkadot Hackathons in March 2021,June 2021,June 2022 and December 2022. OneBlock propose to continue the Polkadot Hackathon program in summer 2023, an essential part of the Substrate promotion and adoption initiatives in China, to promote Substrate as an open-source framework for developers and convert the Substrate learners from OneBlock’s ongoing Substrate courses to Substrate builders.

We are currently working on a hook point framework that allows to build plug-ins and extensions to customize the core functionality of a substrate based chain. _GenesisDAO_ is the first use case and the first implementation of _Stylograph_ as _Genesis DAO_ will have a marketplace, an ecosystem and an open source community to build complex DAO tooling on top of the core infrastructure. 

Within this treasury proposal we are introducing the first components for this. 

They will be loosely coupled, meaning that other ink! protocols can utilize this functionality even outside of DAO contexts (e.g. the vesting wallet can be used for token issuance to investors) and will serve - alongside with friendly documentation - as a starting point for others to explore the potential of Stylograph.

Subscan is an essential block explorer and analytics tool for the Polkadot network, providing valuable insights to the Polkadot community. However, the maintenance and operation of Subscan requires a significant investment of resources, including server infrastructure, security, and personnel costs. Therefore, we propose reimbursing the operation and maintenance fee for Subscan from July to December 2022 from the Polkadot treasury to ensure its continuous operation and maintenance.
