We wanted to take the time to address the recent concerns about bounty management and explain our approach to mitigate conflict of interests.

# 1\. Measures to manage conflict of interest

We have debated for a long time about the curator/executor conflict of interest. One of the main points we need to be conscious of is that finding UX expertise is more challenging than finding marketing expertise.

Removing the capability for our curators to work on tasks would be counterproductive, as our set of curators holds a big part of the UX expertise in the ecosystem.

To address this, we’ll be following those measures:

1. Curators who are also executing tasks will **abstain from voting on their own proposals**.
2. Projects executed by curators will **undergo higher scrutiny**, ensuring rigorous evaluation and validation before approval.
3. All votes and decisions will be **documented and made publicly accessible** to maintain transparency and build community trust.

# 2\. Multisig Structure

With the Bounty Operator role, we are proposing a new setup that hasn't been used before. Braille, in this role, will need to be part of the multisig to expedite the signing process.

Without this, we rely on the Curators to handle this task, which (a) isn’t in their scope, and (b) is a significant time commitment, as we've seen in multiple discussions regarding bounty management.

Braille will act as an **automatic approver for all transactions**, which won’t impact the results of the curator voting, as it will be accounted for in the multisig threshold.

# 3\. Illustrations

Structure with an Operator:

- The multisig is composed of 8 Curators and 1 Operator (Braille).
- To get approval, 5 out of 8 Curators must approve a spending.
- This is what we call a 5/8 multisig.

⇒ With the Operator included, **the multisig becomes 6/9**, as the Operator will always approve every transaction.

Structure when Curators are abstaining because they are also Executors:

- When a curator proposes to be an executor, they abstain from voting and are removed from the multisig threshold.
- The multisig **passes from a 6/9 to a 6/8**.
- The Curator still needs 6 approvals but has fewer possibilities as their vote is removed.

⇒ This change represents a 10% increase in difficulty.

A summa cum laude graduate from Washington and Lee University, DJ Hà Trang now works as Research Lead at SubWallet and contributes to making SubWallet one of the leading wallet in the Polkadot ecosystem with over 1,000,000 active users on 3 platforms: browser extension, mobile app and web dashboard. She also co-founded Dotinsights where she wrote in-depth quarterly reports on the Polkadot ecosystem.

At the forefront of user and partner support, DJ works closely with the product team to constantly exchange feedback and improve the user experience in SubWallet, which translates to better experience in the Polkadot ecosystem overall for new users.

## Nova (Anton)

Anton has been designing and building user-focused products for over 10 years and has been building for Polkadot since 2019. He holds a Master’s in Software Engineering and a Bachelor’s in Computer Science.

Anton is working on the leading mobile app for Polkadot, Nova Wallet, as well as on Telenova, Polkadot Vault, and Nova Spektr.

Anton's main focus is the success of Polkadot.

## Talisman (Nobyte)

Nobyte is the head of product at Talisman, passionate about good user experiences, and has more than a decade of experience in software design, user research, product management, and engineering.

Talisman Wallet has a track record of approaching product design in Polkadot from first principles, pushing a multi-chain portfolio abstraction that has led the standard for the ecosystem.

## Apillon (Nino)

Nino sources from interdisciplinary expertise in academic UX research and extensive professional experience at IT powerhouses such as Microsoft, Telekom, Sailbrace, Iconomi (CPO), and Futourist (CTO) to develop and perfect the Apillon platform. Nino maintains a strong focus on user perspective and experience, as well as the technological capabilities and opportunities of the space.

## Velocity Labs (Nico)

Nicolas Arevalo (Nico) is the co-founder and CEO of Velocity Labs. He’s been in the Polkadot ecosystem since 2020 when he joined Acala as its Director of BD where he was responsible for pushing Acala’s DeFi primitives to both internal Polkadot builders and external ones. End of 2022, he joined Parity as the DeFi Lead for the EcoDev team where he oversaw all DeFi BD initiatives both at the parachain level as well as support parachains teams at the dapp level. Nico also looked after infrastructure pieces like Oracles, Bridges, Stablecoins and others.

Now as CEO of Velocity, he’ll be supporting the ecosystem with a more hands-on approach and by not only building, but helping builders build. Velocity is also the operator of the DeFi Infrastructure Bounty.

## DHNN (Valeria & Rocio)

DHNN is a UX/UI design & development agency.

With a strong background in product development and entrepreneurship, I am now a business developer specializing in the Web3 space. I have been involved in the Polkadot ecosystem for the past three years, collaborating with the Web3 Foundation, Parity Technologies, and various projects in both development and security audits for the runtime and pallets, as well as ink! smart contracts. The company I have supported has become a member of the Polkadot Assurance Legion (PAL) as auditors and the Polkadot Alpha Program as developers. We have lever lo aged our expertise to create Scout, a bug detection tool for ink! smart contracts. Currently, we are preparing for a new cybersecurity research challenge focused on automatically detecting security bugs in pallets and the runtime.

As a UX leader and Sr. Product Designer with a deep passion for the blockchain and cryptocurrency space, I have dedicated the past seven years to advancing DeFi solutions. My journey includes leading the UX team at Buenbit, a crypto wallet serving over 1 million users, and designing ambitious NFT and DeFi projects from the ground up. Additionally, I've collaborated as a designer and consultant on several DeFi and NFT projects with renowned crypto artists such as PAK and Cryptomotors, and engaged with various LatAm communities, evangelizing and teaching best practices and user-centered design to drive massive adoption of blockchain solutions and interfaces. His master’s thesis explored agile software development in open-source environments.

Ugur (Jeeper) has a background in the research of autonomy and digitalization of various types of organizations since 2014, with a focus on political science, civil organizations, and social movements. He holds a BA in Political Science, with a thesis on the digital public sphere and social movements, and an MSc in Sociology, where he explored crowdfunding practices in the context of network society. Ugur has five years of academic research experience and has worked as a content strategist in Web3 for two years. He is currently working with Tommi Enenkel on Opengov.Watch.

Having been part of the Polkadot Ecosystem for many years, Remy has gained valuable professional experience working for both Parity & other project teams, more specifically, Interlay & Kintsugi. **Francisco**

Francisco has a background as a full-stack web2 developer and graduated from the first wave of the Polkadot Blockchain Academy. There, he learnt about all the inner workings of blockchain and the Polkadot SDK. After the academy, he wanted to use his newly gained knowledge but found that building on the Polkadot ecosystem had a lot of friction. 3. A place to see all information about validators, including predictions and risks.
4. A system that connects nominators and validators and gives recommendations based on what is happening now.
5. A chatbot that can tell you about your current situation and give you solutions.
6. A system that warns you about risks before they happen.

Thank you for the feedback! As expected, posting for realvoting provides more feedback than any other method.

Here's our current state: we have a backend capable of identifying issues, along with a set of potential solutions to help users utilize NPoS more effectively. What value can Motif provide on top of that?

I would appreciate your input on which features would be most useful for nominators. What functionalities would help nominators manage their stake more effectively? Here are seven options we're considering:

1.  Nominator Interfaces with Statistical Information (No Predictions): This interface would show where and when nominators have been nominated, when they lost their rewards, and other details. Nominators can see what happened with their nominations over time and which validators bring them to the active set.
    
2.  Nominator Interfaces with Statistical Information + Predictions and Risks: This would include all statistics, plus predictions on when they might lose their nomination, which validators are unstable, etc. Nominators can receive a set of risks and recommendations for further actions.
    
3.  Validator Data with Statistical Information and Risk Predictions: This interface would provide all statistics about validators, including predictions on when they might lose validation, the riskiness of their nominators, participation in the 1kv set, etc. Nominators would be able to assess the predicted performance of a validator as a system participant.
    
4.  Interactive Validator Recommendation System for Nominators: A context-aware system that connects nominators and validators, offering recommendations based on current states. Nominators can receive dynamic recommendations depending on the immediate global status of validators and nominators.
    
5.  Nominator bug fixing ML Model with Chatbot interface: A chatbot that responds with information on the current state of a nominator, compares it with similar cases and offers proactive solutions. Nominators can learn their current status directly in the chat and receive basic recommendations.
    
6.  Nominator Risk Notification System: An autonomous event-based system that allows users to subscribe to notifications and be warned of risks before they occur (typically a few eras above). Nominators can subscribe to events related to their nomination (both personal and pool-related), enabling them to receive advance notice of proposed actions.
    

P.S. For simplicity, I've removed plans regarding personal accounts, user-specific backend, and current backend/frontend refactoring and cross-options from the plan, focusing directly on the features you might consider important.

**B) Giant Squid**

Giant Squid is a set of open-source GraphQL APIs built with Squid SDK and maintained by Subsquid Labs. The APIs cover the most commonly used data for Pokadot, Kusama and a growing list of major parachains and is used by explorers (such as Calamar and Polkascan) and wallets (e.g. SubWallet).

As of Q1 2024, Subsquid has sunsetted support for Giant Squid, with LimeChain taking over its further development, detailed in the proposal at [https://polkadot.polkassembly.io/treasury/758](../treasury/758)

**Achievements**

-   **Enhanced Query Packing:** Due to optimization and better filtering, archive queries have become more accurate and stable. Now, significantly fewer queries are needed to retrieve the necessary chain data, reducing the load on the infrastructure. It is worth noting that the response size has increased as fewer queries are required to obtain the same data.
-   **ArrowSquid release:** The main feature introduced by the ArrowSquid update is the new ability of the processor to ingest unfinalized blocks directly from a network node, instead of waiting for the archive to ingest and serve it first. The processor can now handle forks and rewrite the contents of its database if it happens to have indexed orphaned blocks. This allows Subsquid-based APIs to become near real-time and respond to the on-chain activity with subsecond latency. Another major feature introduced by ArrowSquid is the support for transaction execution receipts, traces and state diffs.
-   **Decentralizing Archives:** launched public testnet on CoinList with over 40.000 participants ([https://coinlist.co/subsquid-testnet).](https://coinlist.co/subsquid-testnet\).) Several thousand indexers in the Subsquid testnet were deployed to index Moonbeam, a Polkadot parachain.
-   Subsquid is powering ≈ 650 live projects in Q4 2023
-   The biggest Polkadot projects have fully migrated or are in the process of finishing the migration from FireSquid to ArrowSquid, including: Polkassembly, Subsocial, HydraDX, KodaDot, Talisman, Multix Multisig , RMRK, Apillon, StellaSwap

-   Served ~500m monthly archive requests for substrate based archives
-   The highest daily total responses have been 19.15m in a single 24 hour period for substrate
-   The decrease in queries reflects an ongoing shift to Firesquid, largely attributed to a substantially improved query structure that optimizes performance.

- Asset Hub is a special part of the Polkadot system that will hold important digital money like DOT, USDT, and USDC.
- Dotswap.org is a website to help people swap and manage their digital assets easily.
- There are two versions of Dotswap: version 1 (v1) and version 2 (v2), with v2 having more features.
- v1 allows users to see their assets and swap them, while v2 will let users show more asset types and provide helpful tips for beginners.
- The creators of Dotswap are seeking $468,200 in funding for improvements and support through 2024.
- Their goal is to make Dotswap user-friendly so everyone, even new users, can use it.
- The plan includes adding more places for users to send their digital assets in the future.

MVP Workshop and Colorful Notion propose retroactive funding for dotswap v1 for Q1/Q2 2024, and support for v2 development and hosting dotswap.org for Q3/Q4 2024. They request 77,903 DOT (est $468.2K) for Dotswap v1.x + v2.x through OpenGov with utility.batch in 3 payments. Dotswap.org aims to be a full-fledged interface for users to manage Asset Hub-related assets, with key functionality of swapping assets using a new assetConversion pallet on Asset Hub.

dAppForge is a planned AI-powered plugin for Polkadot developers that aims to reduce development time. It is designed to address the difficulty of learning Substrate and Ink! frameworks, which are major challenges for developers in the Polkadot ecosystem. The project has received $100,000 in funding from an angel investor to build the first iteration of the AI model and the alpha version of the plugin, which is available for download from the VS code extension marketplace.

The development of dAppForge is divided into four milestones:
1. The first iteration of the AI model and the alpha version of the plugin have been completed.
2. The beta version of the product, which includes fine-tuning the AI model, integrating Ink!, and building a chat feature, is the next phase. The team is seeking treasury funding for this milestone.
3. And 4. The comprehensive cost for milestone 2 is $105,000 and is expected to take 12 weeks to complete. After milestone 2, the core of dAppForge will be open-source, and the team plans to ask the treasury for funds for milestones 3 and 4, which will each take about 12 weeks and cost around $100,000 to $115,000 each. Because of this, Polkadot developers always struggle to build better applications. The bad developer experience also makes it harder for new developers to enter the ecosystem. Polkadot needs a better developer experience to grow the developer ecosystem and enable developers to build better applications faster. Better applications will attract more users, which is a problem Polkdot has always had. One solution to the DevEx problem is dAppForge.

dAppForge is an AI-powered plug-in for Polkadot developers that reduces development time. The AI model will be explicitly fine-tuned for substrate and ink! We received $100,000 in funding from Angel Investor to build LLM's first iteration and the alpha version of the plug-in. You can also download the alpha version of the plugin from the VS code extension marketplace.

Since this is the alpha version, there is still much fine-tuning left to do. The funding received enabled us to complete the first of four milestones to build dAppForge V 1.0. dAppForge version 1.0 is divided into 4 milestones: Milestone 1: the first iteration of LLM and the alpha version of the VS code plugin. This was completed, but the product is at a level where developers won’t see a lot of value. This is because the model needs to be further fine-tuned. Milestone 2: This is the beta version of the product. It includes fine-tuning the LLM model, integrating ink!, and building a chat feature. This is where developers will see value in using the product. We are applying to the treasury to fund milestone 2. Milestones 3 and 4: We plan to integrate the Pop network to further improve the DevEx for ink developers! We will also work on implementing other features, such as reference documentation and pre-written prompts for runtime templates. The main task for these milestones will be releasing our API freemium model. The API will have a free tier, and developers will have access to basic code suggestions and a foundational knowledge graph to help them build their Polkadot projects. The subscription-based premium API will offer extra features, such as:

It will be migrated to the dAppForge repository in the future, and the code for the plug-in will also be open-sourced. We are now seeking treasury funding for milestone two. Milestone 2 funds the product's beta version, which developers will see value in using. The code suggestions will be more accurate and help reduce some of the developers' pain points when building with Substrate. We will also incorporate ink!, making it easier for developers to use smart contracts to test their ideas quickly.

[Neurons Lab](https://neurons-lab.com/), which developed the first version of AI in the previous development phase, has been commissioned again. As an AWS partner, Neurons Lab can leverage the AWS AI Production Ready Funding Program to obtain $75,000 in co-funding from AWS. This results in a total AI development budget of $150,000, with costs split equally between AWS and dAppForge. This will enable us to build a robust beta verison with a better fine-tuned AI model. AWS credits cover all the AWS hosting costs. The $75,000 does not include building the chat feature and integrating the AI model into the plug-in. Those are separate development costs. The comprehensive cost for milestone 2 is $105,000 and will take 12 weeks to complete.

The beta version of the product will be free to everyone. After completing milestone 2, developers will see the plug-in's value. The core of dAppForge will be open-source, meaning anyone can download the model on their local devices. After completing milestone 2, we plan to ask the treasury for funds for milestone 3 and then milestone 4.

Milestones 3 and 4 will each take about 12 weeks to complete and cost around $100,000 to $115,000 each. After completing milestone 4, dAppForge version 1.0 will be ready. The main part of milestones 3 and 4 will be implementing the API freemium feature. The subscription-based premium API is part of our monetization strategy. The cloud-based premium features will support dAppForge's ongoing development and improvement. This helps ensure that the free, open-source version is available and improved for everyone. The monetization strategy also eliminates the need to ask for continuous treasure funding after milestone 4.
