Once the referendum is approved, the PCF and Polkadot-API team will go through the following process:

A) Archives

Archives are an important piece of Polkadot and Kusama data infrastructure provided by SQD (formerly Subsquid). They provide access to on-chain data for public chains in the Polkadot ecosystem. They are being used as a data source for Squids and for efficient data exploration and ad-hoc queries.

The Archives, as performant data sources of historical on-chain data, are critical to the operation of backend APIs run by major projects in the Polkadot ecosystem (the list is not exhaustive):

Throughout the second quarter of 2024, we provided a free public data indexing service for Substrate blockchains, allowing interested parties to access indexed data on Substrate Events, Extrinsics, Storage Items, and EVM logs. Below is a list of the public chains we currently support at no cost:

During Q2’2024, we made significant contributions to support ink! v5 and address actual use cases that were highly demanded by the community:

-   We provided support for manual finality confirmation in the subsquid/substrate-processor for cases where a chain does not expose finalization details

**Achievements**

**Increase in Archival Data Demand and Infrastructure Scaling**

During Q2, archival data demand increased approximately ~28,1 times, from 110,6 GiB to 3.095,17 GiB. We addressed the increasing demand for archival data by enhancing our infrastructure's throughput and redundancy through deploying archives to OVHCloud in addition to GCE, while also empowering our maintenance and engineering teams to support the expanded infrastructure effectively.

**Mainnet Launch and Decentralization of the SQD Network Enhancing the Polkadot Ecosystem:**

In Q2’24, we successfully launched the SQD mainnet, a pivotal advancement that significantly strengthens the Polkadot ecosystem's decentralization and resilience. By the end of the quarter, the SQD network comprised 726 Worker Nodes online, securely storing 529 TB of data and serving ~ 9 TB of data a day. This decentralized infrastructure enhances data processing and storage capabilities, ensuring higher security, fault tolerance, and scalability for the Polkadot network.

**Advancements in Squid SDK Empowering Polkadot Developers:**

-   Manual Finality Confirmation Configuration: Enabled manual configuration of finality confirmation for subsquid/substrate-processor in cases where a parachain does not expose finalization information

**Cloud API Upgrades:**

We upgraded our Cloud API to offer enhanced capabilities that support the growth of the Polkadot ecosystem:

-   **Multiple API Tokens Support**: Allows for more granular access control and better management of development workflows.
-   **Hasura Integration**: Enables more efficient and powerful data querying and manipulation, facilitating the creation of responsive and data-driven applications.
-   **Chain ID and SS58 Prefix support**: Enhanced network identification and management for seamless interoperability across Polkadot parachains

SQD (fka Subsquid) - Public data indexing Infrastructure for Polkadot and Kusama (Q2 2024)

- LimeChain is now in charge of GiantSquid, a tool that helps find data in the Polkadot system.
- They created a report about their work and talked to users to gather feedback.
- Based on this feedback, they have a new plan called "Phase 2 for Giant Squid."
- Phase 2 includes new features like making it easier to find cross-chain transfers and track staking and voting.
- They will also make a new table to show all account events at once, which will be easier to use.
- They are asking for **169,520 USDC** to help pay for the new features and other costs.
- Feedback from the community is very welcome, and they hope to turn it into a treasury proposal.

With <a href="618">Referendum #618</a>, LimeChain took over the development and maintanance of GiantSquid (fka as Subsquid), which is an indexing tool in the Polkadot ecosystem, providing access to on-chain data in the form of GraphQL gateways. Since then, we have delivered on the treasury proposal, proactively talked to users and ecosystem members, and published a detailed delivery report. More details on community feedback can be found in the progress report of <a href="618">Referendum #618</a> .
Based on user feedback, we&rsquo;ve scoped out a list of upgrades in a new proposal which we&rsquo;re calling a &ldquo;Phase 2 for Giant Squid&rdquo;.The full proposal document for Giant Squid Phase 2 can be read <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FkQY0erT2LsLbK03-AnJ9RrRnFDVtPxI/edit?usp=sharing&amp;ouid=113946912904115479410&amp;rtpof=true&amp;sd=true">here in google docs</a>.
TLDR:
In Phase 2 we plan to implement XCM transaction indexing, making cross-chain transfers easily searchable. By indexing nomination pools and conviction voting, we enable detailed tracking of staking and governance participation. A new &ldquo;History Elements&rdquo; table will consolidate all account-related events into a single dataset, simplifying queries for wallets and applications. Staking analytics will be improved with APR calculations and validator selection insights. NFT indexing will allow users to retrieve owned assets, while a feasibility study will explore cross-chain NFT tracking. Additionally, we will research real-time mempool indexing to provide better transaction visibility before finalization. Giant Squid will also boast a new homepage that greatly improves usability. These upgrades will make Giant Squid a more powerful and user-friendly indexer for the ecosystem.
The total treasury request for this proposal is 169,520 USDC, of which 94,520 are development costs and 75,000 are estimated infrastructure costs from March 2025 till December 2025 inclusive. The infrastructure estimation is based on historical infrastructure expenses (currently at about $7.5k a month)&nbsp; + an usage growth assumption from the delivery of Phase 2 onwards. The infrastructure up until now is being covered with remaining funds from <a href="618">Referendum #618</a>.
Any additional feedback or ideas for the upgrade of GiantSquid are greatly appreciated. We would love to hear the community feedback on this and potentially move it to a treasury proposal.

Giant Squid Phase 2

WAGOI is a new app that will help car owners control their own car data. Most cars today are connected, but drivers don't have control over their data. Car makers make money from this data, and it's a big market worth $750 billion. Soon, new rules in the European Union will say that people must have access to their car data, which is a big chance for WAGOI.

WAGOI will use a special technology called blockchain to make sure car data is safe and can't be changed. It will work with rules like the EU Data Act and GDPR to make sure everything is done the right way. WAGOI will be the first app like this on the Polkadot Hub, which is a place for new apps.

WAGOI is good for Polkadot because it follows EU rules, which will make people trust it more. It will also make a lot of value for drivers and others in the car world. WAGOI is working with big car companies, which will help more people use Polkadot's technology.

**Problem**

96% of all cars are connected, yet **drivers have zero control** over their own data. Car manufacturers **monetize this data,** with projections estimating a **$750 billion market.**  
  
With the **EU Data Act** (_Nov 2025_) mandating that consumers must have access to their vehicle data, the industry is at a tipping point. Car manufacturers will **no longer be gatekeepers**, creating a massive opportunity for a decentralized solution like WAGOI.  
  
**Solution**

WAGOI empowers vehicle owners to reclaim control over their vehicle data. It enables drivers to securely manage, share, and monetize their data while ensuring compliance with EU regulations like the EU Data Act and GDPR.  
WAGOI provides **blockchain-based provenance** for vehicle data, ensuring verifiable and tamper-proof records. We combine Self-Sovereign Identities (SSI) with **machine identity DIDs** and at the same time, we will be using **AssetHub** for smart contracts.

The Spanish Bounty program aims to support and reward Spanish-speaking content creators in the blockchain industry. The program has identified challenges such as slow evaluation processes, lack of feedback, and the need for better communication and content impact. Proposed solutions include improved collaboration between curators and content creators, a reduced event budget cap, removal of translation rewards, and the addition of an external auditor for transparency. The goal is to maintain momentum within the Spanish-speaking community, ensure high-quality content, and foster a more active and dynamic community. The program is led by Spanish-speaking curators with knowledge in the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystems.

**Context of the bounty  
**  
Large token holders do not have a deep understanding of the Spanish-speaking market. Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the world, so it has a huge ecosystem of its own, however, it may be unknown to those who are not within the ecosystem itself. We intend to provide our experience and knowledge by being immersed in the Spanish-speaking world ourselves.  
  
Slow evaluation process. We’re seeing that the resolution of a tip or a proposal by OpenGov takes approximately one month, which would be considered a fairly slow process.  
  
No feedback. Most of the content that is rewarded doesn’t get any feedback, which doesn’t give the creator the opportunity to improve.  
  
More and more companies in Spanish-speaking countries are becoming interested in making significant investments in developments within the blockchain industry, such as AgroToken or Onyze. Being able to fill quality content in this language can influence their decision-making power, in addition to increasing the Spanish-speaking user base in the ecosystem, which helps us to improve the chances of closing more deals of this type.

Increasing impact in Spanish-speaking retail. Polkadot has managed to penetrate the Spanish-speaking markets, marking a real and important presence. Exchange reports indicate that the DOT token is in the top 10 list of tokens with the highest volume among Spanish-speaking users.

Time period without support for this bounty. Version 1 of this bounty ended in September 2023, while version 2 ended in November 2024. The version 3 of this bounty was rejected. We, the curators, have determined that this gap without activity generated the deactivation and deceleration of many content creators as well as of many initiatives that were being carried out.

The Spanish Bounty has proven to be an effective mechanism for recognizing and rewarding the contributions of the Spanish community in a transparent and equitable manner, as demonstrated in Versions 1 and 2. Throughout this process, the bounty team has worked diligently to address community feedback and continuously optimize the initiative.

Based on a detailed analysis of community feedback from forums, direct channels, and the V3 proposal discussion, which was rejected, the team has identified areas for improvement, below are the proposed modifications to enhance and evolve the bounty:

**Identified Challenges and Proposed Solutions**

**1.1 Communication and Content Impact**

Challenge: The community highlighted the need to enhance the influence of audiovisual and written content on their intended audience.

Solution:

-   Curators will collaborate directly with content creators to evaluate their work, improve technical quality, and boost audience engagement.
-   Curators will allocate 10 hours per month to meet with content creators.
-   20 meeting slots per month (30 minutes each) between curator and content creators will be set up in order to improve content and its impact.
-   Curators will provide constructive feedback and work alongside creators to maximize content impact, rather than solely determining reward eligibility.
-   A comprehensive communication strategy will be developed by the community manager in partnership with Polkadot Spanish to amplify the reach of rewarded content.

**1.2. Curator Participation in Rewards**

Challenge: Curators were eligible to apply for rewards for activities such as event organization or content creation, creating a potential conflict of interest.

Solution:

-   Curators will no longer be eligible to apply for funds allocated to rewards for tasks outside their role as curators.

**1.3. Event Budget Limits**

Challenge: The $50,000 cap for event funding was deemed excessive.

Solution:

-   A reduced cap of $15,000 per event will be established as the maximum allowable funding for event organization.

**1.4. Translation Rewards**

Challenge: Advances in AI have led to inconsistencies in determining fair rewards for translation tasks.

Solution:

-   The translations section will be removed, leaving written content creation as the sole text-based activity eligible for rewards.

**1.5. Strengthening oversight and transparency**

To ensure ongoing improvement and transparency we propose to incorporate an external auditor, which we believe is appropriate for all active bounties.

The role of the external auditor focuses on monitoring the activity and processes of the bounty to certify that what is determined in the proposal is being carried out in a correct and transparent manner.

External auditor main tasks:

-   Evaluate the bounty’s operations.
-   Hold monthly meetings with the curatorial team to review and propose process improvements.
-   Provide feedback to the community in parallel to each report submitted by the bounty team.

These measures aim to optimize the bounty program’s structure, enhance its efficiency, and foster a stronger connection with the Spanish Community.

**Focus of proposal and solution**

Taking into account the problems and needs identified we propose to continue with a third version of this Bounty in order to continue the momentum within the Spanish-speaking community.

Since its initial launch at Kusama, this Bounty has been constantly evolving. The first version laid the groundwork and the second version refined the model, incorporating improvements based on the results obtained. With each iteration, we have learned and adjusted the Bounty to maximize its impact. This third version represents the next step on this path of continuous improvement.

Thanks to this Bounty, we have been able to dynamize the creation of content in Spanish within the Polkadot and Kusama community. Our goal now is to maintain this momentum, ensuring that content remains high quality and relevant to the current needs of the ecosystem.

The main objective of this Bounty is to incentivize and reward Spanish content creators, motivating them to produce high quality work that contributes to the growth and development of the ecosystem. By recognizing their efforts, we seek to foster a more active and dynamic community, capable of attracting an ever wider audience.

The team is formed by Spanish-speaking curators with knowledge mainly in the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystem and technical knowledge in the areas of analysis, incorporating defined criteria for each evaluation area.

Each curator has an on-chain identity that allows the community to verify who the reward members are.In addition, everyone can check the signatures made by each member.

During V2, different audits were carried out both internally, by the bounty participants themselves, and externally, where a proposal was even submitted to OpenGov to close the Bounty, although the transparency and operation of this Bounty was fully demonstrated, which allowed the actions and the positive impact that this bounty has had on the community to be strengthened.

In conclusion, with this bounty, we seek to optimize the evaluation process of content and events in Spanish, guaranteeing a fast and rigorous curation. Our goal is to keep fostering an active community of creators and ensure that the information available is of high quality and aligned with the interests of the community.

The proposal seeks funding for deployment on Kusama and improving the Coretime Hub user interface. Polkadot is a scalable platform for hosting rollups, and attracting new teams is important. The marketplace is needed for secondary Coretime purchases, immediate use, and scaling on the go. **Short Description**

The RegionX parachain implements a trustless Coretime marketplace and an order model for indicating Coretime demand. All required functionality of the parachain has been implemented, and we would like to proceed with deploying it into production, as we see that many teams would benefit from the features it provides. The parachain will delegate its governance and revenue to DOT holders (KSM for the Kusama parachain). This is the Phase 1 proposal, where we are first seeking funding to proceed with deployment on Kusama and to refine the Coretime Hub user interface for improved design and user experience.

**Context**

We have observed that Coretime sales have been live on Polkadot for some time, and there is no denying that Coretime is currently very cheap. Right now Polkadot has more resources to offer than the current demand it has. However, this isn’t because ‘there are no projects on Polkadot’, but rather because Polkadot is really scalable and can host a bunch of rollups.

We believe Polkadot is currently the best platform for hosting rollups, and the main focus in the upcoming period should be to market this fact and attract new teams to the ecosystem. This is something we also want to be actively involved in moving forward.

However, just because Coretime is cheap right now doesn’t mean there is no demand for a trustless Coretime marketplace. We talked with multiple teams from ecosystems that would have benefited from a deployed Coretime marketplace.

The current main reasons we believe it is important to have the marketplace deployed on both Polkadot and Kusama:

-   With more projects deployed and with elastic scaling being used by bigger projects, it is likely that the demand for Coretime will highly increase. This scenario would highly require a secondary marketplace where Coretime can be purchased after all cores are sold on the bulk sale.
-   The bulk sale only offers Coretime for the upcoming bulk period, meaning it is not possible to purchase Coretime for immediate use. This can be an issue for projects that missed purchasing Coretime during the bulk sale or for those that experience increased on-chain activity and need to scale up with an additional core.
-   Many parachains considering deployment on Polkadot would likely want a secondary marketplace for purchasing Coretime—either to scale on the go or to ensure there is still a trustless way to procure Coretime if the bulk sale sells out.

**A Common Good Chain, but Not a System Parachain**

We aim to make the RegionX parachain a common good parachain with DOT as its native token.

DOT will serve as the primary currency for all chain functionality, meaning governance will be delegated to DOT holders, and all fees will be charged in DOT. As a result, the RegionX treasury will also be managed by DOT holders through governance.

However, we don’t want to make the RegionX parachain a system chain. The main reason is that this would delegate the parachain's maintenance to the Polkadot Fellowship, which already has many things to look after. We believe it is better to have a dedicated team specifically focused on working on and maintaining the RegionX parachain.

WebZero team represented Polkadot at Consensus in Austin by hosting a Blockspace Mansion for five days. They also managed the Polkadot track sponsorship at the EasyA hackathon. The event was a success, with 535 guests and 21 team submissions. The team focused on marketing, hosting, and managing events to attract teams and promote Polkadot. The WebZero team represented Polkadot during Consensus in Austin by hosting a Blockspace Mansion for five days in conjunction with the WebZero DevRel team managing the Polkadot track sponsorship at the EasyA hackathon.

The mission was a standout success, drawing 535 individual guests to the hacker house and collecting submissions from 21 teams at the hackathon. The overall scope included marketing, hosting and managing multiple events that attracted dozens of teams from other ecosystems and functioning as a hub for the active hackers to co-work and participate in workshops, interacting with Polkadot ecosystem agents throughout.

This proposal aims to bring 1 million user wallets to the Polkadot network through ongoing user funnels at strategic Billfold venues. It funds the production of four Bash events in the first half of the year and the placement of Billfold PoS in strategic venues, generating at least 1 million wallets and transactions in 2025. The Polkadot community has trusted PMEI to bring Billfold into the ecosystem, and now they want to drive as much usage to Polkadot as possible through existing and new Billfold users. Every new event attendee at a Billfold venue will get a new Polkadot wallet and be encouraged to transact on the network. PMEI is focused on creating self-sustaining user funnels through new venue partnerships, driving usage to the network through loyalty engagement and facilitating payments. This proposal funds the production of (4) {Bash} events for the first half of the year and placement of Billfold PoS into strategic venues, which in turn will generate a minimum of 1M wallets and transactions in 2025, alone.

The Polkadot community has trusted PMEI to bring Billfold into the ecosystem. Now that we've successfully done so, we want to drive as much usage to Polkadot as we possibly can through exisiting and new Billfold users.

Polkadot's ecosystem lacks a reliable method for generating frequent, high-quality random values, which is critical for creating fair and secure decentralized applications. The Ideal Network will unlock publicly verifiable randomness for Polkadot's World Computer, introducing a game-changing infrastructure that solves critical blockchain challenges. They are building a trustless bridge to the Drand distributed randomness beacon, enabling a standardized randomness layer that delivers secure, verifiable randomness at a fraction of the cost of existing solutions like Chainlink VRF.

The Ideal Network enables use cases across multiple domains, including secure network consensus and governance, fair DeFi mechanisms, provably random gaming experiences, unbiased and dealer-free gambling, transparent NFT generation, and front-running-resistant transaction pools. Beyond randomness, IDN introduces timelock encryption, a cryptographic mechanism that allows messages to be securely encrypted and revealed only at specific future blocks.

The work done is supported through collaborations with Web3 Foundation, NIST, and the University of Colorado. Several projects have expressed interest in integration, including Asset Hub, Bittensor, ChainSafe, and PolkaStorage.

## **The Ideal Network**

The Ideal Network (**IDN**) will unlock publicly verifiable randomness for Polkadot's World Computer, introducing a game-changing infrastructure that solves critical blockchain challenges. We're building a _trustless_ bridge to the [Drand distributed randomness beacon](https://drand.love/), enabling a **standardized randomness layer** that delivers secure, verifiable randomness at a [fraction of the cost of existing solutions like Chainlink VRF](https://docs.chain.link/vrf/v2/estimating-costs?network=ethereum-mainnet).

The potential is massive:

- Dramatically **lower cost** and **lower latency** for access to secure verifiable randomness compared to existing solutions
- Enable **new use cases** across Web3
- Distribute randomness to parachains **on-demand** or via **subscription**
- **Export randomness** to other blockchain ecosystems
- Unlock **timelock encryption** capabilities

## **Use Cases**

By providing _publicly verifiable on-chain randomness_, the Ideal Network enables **use cases** across multiple domains including secure network **consensus** and **governance**, fair **DeFi** mechanisms, provably random **gaming** experiences, unbiased and dealer-free **gambling**, transparent **NFT** generation, **front-running-resistant** transaction pools.

Beyond randomness, IDN introduces **timelock encryption,** a cryptographic mechanism that allows messages to be securely encrypted and **revealed only at specific future blocks**. Executive summary

Opportunity

**Payment wallets** are one of the **fastest growing industries** within the fintech ecosystem. The global mobile wallet market was valued at USD 7.42 billion in 2022 and is expected to grow at a compound **annual growth rate of 28.3%** from 2023 to 2030.

Problem statement

Most mobile payment wallets currently penetrating the market are **based on the tradfi infrastructure**: electronic money institution **(EMI) licence** + deep integration with VISA/MasterCard networks. This makes entering the market **complex, expensive and time-consuming.**

Proposed solution

Instead of building a wallet by acquiring an EMI licence and integrating with tradfi payment systems, we **use existing crypto building blocks**, including stablecoins, a crypto payment processor, and fiat on/off ramps. By connecting these building blocks, a brand-new mobile payment wallet can be shipped in a **very short time**.

Competitors

We are currently aware of only three projects doing this: airtm.com and Decaf in the US, littio.co in LatAm and stables.money in Australia. Each of them has its drawbacks, and only Airtm and Decaf have fiat on/off ramp capability in the EU. None of them operate in the Polkadot ecosystem.

Electrocoin’s solution

Electrocoin is a crypto/fiat on/off ramp from Zagreb, Croatia. We have existed for **over 10 years**, with a **team of 30 people**, and this year we processed **€60M**. We have the building blocks available:

Electrocoin has **existing relationships** with all the biggest mobile payment wallet **user bases** in Croatia: shops (**retail chains, web shops**), cash locations (**kiosks, petrol stations**), gambling industry (**casinos, bookmakers**). **From day one**, wallet can be used on more than **3,500 points of sale** to buy virtually anything in Croatia. Electrocoin on its own has **40,000 existing brokerage users** and **500 merchants** with **3,500 locations**.

#### Support “Plaza” upgrades in relation to staking as they are deployed

Plaza is a major refactor that brings chain logic, including staking and nomination pools, from the Relay Chain to the AssetHub system chain. Staking dashboard will, therefore, need to be updated to support this migration by supporting AssetHub as an additional chain.

#### Support nomination pool bonding migration

Ensure the pool bonding mechanism stays intact amid the nomination pool bonding migration, that allows users to maintain voting rights while staked to a pool, Kusama and Polkadot migration is yet to be activated.

Prior to this migration, nomination pool members (and owners) must transfer their funds to the nomination pool’s stash address in order to participate. By doing this, it is no longer possible for members to vote in OpenGov. This migration fixes this shortcoming.

#### Streamline wallet connection interface

Implement unified connect interface to simplify wallet connections and reduce UI complexity. This action item will simplify Staking Dashboard’s wallet connection flow.

#### Layout plans to sunset the need for staking support in JS Apps

Provide comprehensive migration guides and tools to help users transition from JS Apps staking to the Dashboard, ensuring continuity of user experience and feature parity.

#### Improve application architecture

Provide an intuitive API to interact with all supported chains connected on the dashboard. E.g. have the same bootstrapping of network consts & configs for AssetHub and People Chain as the Relay Chain. Critical for enabling transaction submission on AssetHub.

#### Continued support of general dependency updates / refactors as dependencies roll out / breaking changes

Critical to keep Staking Dashboard up to date using industry-standard dependencies as they are updated.

#### Introduce "Easy Mode" staking setup with additional educational content

Create a simplified onboarding flow for new users that focuses on essential information and basic staking concepts. Advanced features and technical data will be optional/hidden to prevent information overload.

#### Speed up and streamline one click pool joining

Move one-click pool joining syncing from node to Staking API that will provide all the necessary data to join a pool in one query. Currently, it can take a long time to sync multiple era data to determine pool performance with the light client / RPC node.

This proposal seeks $82,000 USDT to enhance the Polkadot Staking Dashboard over six months (January-June 2025). Having recently completed our outstanding commitments and with a well-engaged user base, our focused roadmap aims to:

1.  Support critical network upgrades as they roll out, like reduced unbonding times and Plaza integration
2.  Improve staking accessibility with streamlined UI and multi-language features
3.  Implement new pool creation and destroying mechanisms for better user control
4.  Further roll out Staking API to turbo charge dashboard speed and reliability.

The Staking Dashboard has established itself as essential infrastructure for Polkadot's network security. Our streamlined six-month timeline and concentrated scope demonstrate our commitment to delivering tangible value while minimizing treasury risk.

Polkadot Staking Dashboard 2025 (Q1-Q2) Funding Proposal

- The Polkadot community is asking for more money to pay moderators.
- Moderators help the community all day and night.
- There are now 11 moderators, which is 2 less than before.
- The money will go to a special account called bounty 24.
- The last time they got money was 10 months ago.
- They need $191,040 for one year of work.

Polkadot Moderation Team Bounty Top-up - 2025

Subscan is a helpful tool in the Polkadot network that helps people find important information about the blockchain. They asked for money to keep making the platform better and to pay for things like storage and development costs. They used to get money from the Polkadot Treasury, and now they are asking for more to keep improving and maintaining the platform.

Subscan has made many updates and improvements in the past, and they have a plan for what they will work on in the future. They want to make sure that everyone can use the platform easily and that it works well for developers, people who check the network, and regular users.

Subscan has also started showing ads to make some money, and they will use that money to help pay for everything they need. They are asking for a total of 163,507.88 USDT to help with their costs for the next few months. They want to keep making Subscan better and more useful for everyone in the Polkadot community.

- A referendum wants to choose new curators for the Public RPC Bounty because the old ones didn't continue.
- This has affected payments to providers for services in late 2024.
- It was decided that new curators would help improve payments, communication, and process transparency.
- The new curators are Frankywild, Coinstudio, Tim Janssen, Cappex, and Pastaman.
- They are experienced because they managed a similar bounty successfully.
- The Public RPC Bounty helps provide affordable RPC services more efficiently to the community.
- It needs some improvements, but it has already made RPC services better for everyone.

Dear community,

This referendum seeks to re-propose a curator for the Public RPC Bounty as a consequence of the previous curators not renewing their intent. This resulted in providers not being paid for services rendered in November and December 2024.

After internal evaluation it was determined that it would be in the best interest of the bounty to have a new curation team. It is anticipated that the new curation team would aid with improving reporting, stakeholder engagement, timely payouts, SLA reviews and transparency of the procurement process.

The proposed curators are Frankywild, Coinstudio, Tim Janssen, Cappex and Pastaman. As a team they were recently handed over curation of a similar bounty in place on Kusama. In their short term they have already filled many of the gaps as identified earlier and are working assiduously towards putting administrative processes in place for future efficient running’s. For those unfamiliar with the bounty here’s a TL;DR:

The Public RPC Bounty sought provide RPC services to the public in a structured and price controlled manner. Before the bounty RPC providers would individually invoice the treasury for services rendered. The bounty took an analytical approach of determining the RPC needs for the ecosystem, the number of providers required for adequate coverage and putting this scope out for public tender. Tenderers need only prove their technical capabilities to be eligible participants.

While there’s need for improvement with some of the administrative aspects, the bounty (imo) was successful with improving the value of RPC service delivery to the community.
