Today, because of its early stage of development and complex multi-chain architecture, both Polkadot and Kusama are changing rapidly and the user experience (UX) can be confusing for end users. It’s our goal to solve that using design, storytelling, and engineering. We abstract away the complexity of underlying implementation and provide a friendly user experience when using Polkadot and a way to discover new applications and services available to end users, while keeping them safe and educated about the actions they are taking.

This is Talisman Wallet’s second Polkadot treasury proposal. This proposal seeks retroactive funding for feature development, UX improvement, and QA testing for Talisman Wallet over May to Sept 2023, and Talisman Portal from March to Sept 2023. # Talisman Wallet's 2023 Initiatives

There are a number of security or multi-chain usability improvements that Talisman has chosen to address in 2023. These problem statements reflect our approach to wallet development and our view of needs of the Polkadot ecosystem.

## Diverse Hardware Wallet Support

Hardware wallets and signers are the gold standard for security of funds, given the need to provide consumers with ways to protect private keys and seed phrases. Consumers need to be able to use a diverse set of hardware wallets with Talisman. In addition to supporting Ledger devices, Talisman has integrated D'Cent Wallet.

## Account Management and Organization

Talisman users have multiple accounts with different purposes, such as personal funds, gaming wallets, multisig signers, cold storage or work accounts. An installation can become confusing when accounts of different purposes are mixed together. Talisman has added address book improvements during this period, and will add folders afterwards.

## Worldwide Usability

Generally crypto revolves around “universal conventions” such as the English language and USD-denomination of funds. However, these are adopted legacy conventions from web2 that are non-intuitive for many of Talisman’s worldwide users. We have added features such as multi-language support and multi-currency support, so that users can better understand their crypto assets and actions they take.

## Transaction Comprehension

Blockchain is a machine protocol, and the native units and transactions are oriented to computer rather than human consumption and understanding. It’s the job of dapps, wallets and other blockchain front-ends to enable users to comprehend the actions they take, which is a direct requirement for operating in a secure way.

## Native Multi-Seed Management

Talisman originally organized around a single root account, however many users nowadays use multiple seed phrases / private keys and the restriction of a single root account became a hindrance. We have begun to update the “plumbing” to a new seed store with support for multiple seeds, each which can support multiple derived accounts.

## Open Source

As the fulfillment of a longstanding promise to be a community-driven wallet, Talisman went open source with a GPL3 license.

## General UI Improvements, Bug Fixes, QA & Release Management

As always, Talisman undergoes regular improvements to general use and usability, as well as performs the following regular tasks: token balance support, documentation, QA, release management, Github repo management, dependency checks and security updates.

Retroactive Small Tips for Content (February)

The OpenGov Community Voting Discord Bot project did not have enough money and was too hard to make. The person who made it got paid very little money for their work. Now, there is a new program called Decentralized Voices that helps people in the Polkadot community make decisions together. The Discord bot is important for this program because it helps people start new groups to make decisions. The person who made the bot wants more money to finish the bot and add new features. They want the Polkadot community to give them more money so they can make the bot better and help more people.

In the wake of the initial funding phase for the OpenGov Community Voting Discord Bot, it's become evident that the resources provided fell significantly short of the project's demands, resulting in a development effort that stretched my capabilities thin. Reflecting on this, the compensation for my work, averaging around $6 per hour, did not align with the project's complexity or the prevailing market rates for such technical expertise. This realization has led to a critical reassessment of the funding needs to ensure the project's continued evolution and success. With the recent launch of the Decentralized Voices (DV) program by the Web3 Foundation, which sees Polkadot community members and DAOs receiving voting delegations, the significance of the Discord bot has magnified. This initiative marks a pivotal moment for community-driven governance, and the bot emerges as an indispensable tool for swiftly establishing new DAOs. I've engaged with several DV recipients keen on integrating the bot within their communities, highlighting its crucial role in facilitating this new wave of governance participation. This proposal, therefore, seeks to address the previous funding gap and to expedite the completion of pending features from the initial proposal. Moreover, it introduces additional functionalities like Polkassembly integration and 'Solo Mode', among others, that are essential for enhancing the bot's utility across the ecosystem. By securing additional funding, I aim to dedicate my full attention to the project, ensuring the rapid development and deployment of the bot to support the burgeoning needs of the Decentralized Voices program and the wider Polkadot community. Hello! Cris_Pap here. I want to tell you about some changes in PolkadotJs. Now, when you ask for DOT, you need to add 10 extra zeros, not 12. 

Before, we used a thing called "treasury->spend(amount, beneficiary)" but it's gone now. Instead, we use "spendLocal(amount, beneficiary)". There's also a new thing called "spend(assetKind, amount, beneficiary, validForm)" which might be about a new payment way, but I don't know how to use it yet.

It would be great if there was a special place to learn about all these changes. If you know one, please tell me in the comments. Thanks and sorry for any trouble!

It appears that PolkadotJs has brought back the **Plank Unit** requirement.  
Therefore if you are still submitting your proposal through PJS make sure to add 10 extra 0s (used to be 12) to your requested DOT amount.
