**Potential FAQ:**

**Have I ever been compensated for any of my content, sponsored, or even applied somewhere for compensation?**  
No.

**Why USDT?**  
It’s a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation. Some might argue that asking for a retroactive tip in DOT when its value is arguably low seems opportunistic. Others could say that asking for stablecoins eliminates skin in the game. I chose USDT this time as the most neutral way, as it’s currently favored by today’s community social consensus. And after all, this is retroactive compensation, not for future. Ideally, I believe a better approach will be partial vested DOT for initiatives like this (when it’s available), aligning the proposer’s future actions with the network.

**Why $15K?**  
There’s no one concrete way to assess outreach contributions in crypto. It’s a mix of subjective judgment, some metrics—most of which can be gameable—and a sense of indispensability.

Content creators similar to me, in terms of quality and genuine engagement, can be typically rewarded between $20K to $50K from newly emerging projects through airdrops or from existing ones via retroactive rewards.

But, this is not standardized and varies. Therefore, from my perspective, the best option is to do a heat check—request the amount and see the response.

Previously in March, I was tipped through OpenGov, receiving close to $10K. This time, I based my retroactive request on a monthly compensation range of $2K to $2.5K. Surely, this range reflects my self-assessment of the impact I believe I’ve made here.

In this fourth phase, they are requesting funding for:

1. Creating "meta pallets" to simplify development and speed up time-to-market.
2. Making their templates compatible with Tanssi to improve the developer experience and launch time.
3. Improving zombienet-sdk for easier local chain testing.
4. Including support for Snowbridge, a bridge between Polkadot and Ethereum.
5. Developing guides for using meta pallets and new features.

This proposal is the fourth of our quarterly submissions by OpenZeppelin to accelerate the development and deployment of secure parachains in the Polkadot ecosystem. Since our last approval in July 2024, we have achieved:

In this fourth phase (M4) we request the funding to:

-   **Meta Pallets**: Streamline developer experience by creating higher-level, opinionated "meta pallets" that encapsulate common pallet functionalities. This reduces the number of pallets required for a project, simplifying development and accelerating time-to-market.
-   **Tanssi Integration**: Enhance developer experience and increase parachain launch time by making our templates compatible with Tanssi.
-   **Zombienet-sdk improvements**: One issue we’ve faced when writing integration tests is being able to easily spin up a local chain and tear it up. Treasury Proposal for Funding the JAMTON Project - Bridging 950 Million Users to the Polkadot Ecosystem

Polkadot wants to make all addresses the same across their system. Right now, there are many different address formats, which can be confusing. They want to use one format, starting with the number '1', for all chains that connect to Polkadot. This will make it easier for people to recognize their accounts and know where their money is going. They will also use special address prefixes to help people see where their money is going when they copy an address. This change will make things simpler and safer for everyone using Polkadot.

This proposal aims to simplify and unify the address format across the Polkadot ecosystem to improve user experience and reduce user confusion. Currently, over 150 registered entries use different SS58 address prefixes, creating fragmentation and complicating the user experience.

-   Work with wallet providers, dApps, and exchanges to help them update their interfaces

-   The wish for change serves as guidance; chains and dApps can choose their own prefixes, however this wish for change proposal aims to show, that the users of the Polkadot ecosystem wish to simplify the UX within the ecosystem and it is advisable to follow this change.

## Impact

This change will significantly enhance the user experience within the Polkadot ecosystem, making it more accessible and user-friendly for both new and existing users. It will also reduce the complexity for developers building on the platform.

- The proposal suggests setting a maximum amount of $DOT coins, like the number Pi (3.14), to limit inflation.
- Inflation would be based on the difference between the current supply and the maximum supply, with a 10% growth each year.
- This approach aims to provide a clear path for inflation over the next 5-10 years and avoid yearly changes.
- The proposal is seen as a complete plan that builds trust with investors because it prevents the supply from doubling every seven years.
- The author suggests changing Pi to Euler's number (about 2.72) for a smaller maximum supply, aligning with community preferences.
- Voting for this plan means agreeing with the inflation reduction idea from Gavin Wood, the founder of Polkadot.

I worked as a Helper Ambassador (HA) for the past 3 months and now I'm asking for a reward. I worked 20 hours a week and I want to be paid $62.50 per hour.

I started a team called "The Core" to help find new talent and show people how great Polkadot is. I paid for some of the team's projects with my own money, and I hope to keep doing that until we can get money from the treasury.

I will keep working to make the ambassador program better and I will keep leading "The Core" team. We have a special event called "Blockspace" that happens every 3 months to show people what Polkadot is and how to use it. Over the next nine months, our primary focus is to develop IDCHAIN, our decentralized identity solution. By the end of this period, we aim to have IDCHAIN fully developed and tested, laying the groundwork for future mass user onboarding. This involves completing its Proof of Concept (POC), deploying the testnet, conducting comprehensive security and compliance testing, UI/UX feedback iterations, and preparing the infrastructure for eventual large-scale adoption.  
  
Simultaneously, we'll finalize the MVPs for DJOIN, UnBalivable, and the West Java SmartGov Pilots toward their Minimum Viable Product (MVP) stages. Opposing methodologies would be to treat every supporter distinctly (NFT), or treat every supporter equally; FanSociety falls somewhere in the middle, this provides flexibility with a single simple protocol. Finally, with an on-chain ledger of supporters, artists are then able to give back to their fans with physical or digital goods. This is not a quid-pro-quo protocol; it is deeply rooted in ideas of the gift economy. The proposal discusses a program that promised independence and salary but faced issues with salary enactment and alterations. The current situation includes unpaid work, internal conflicts, and a risk of the program being wiped out. The proposed solution is to move forward with the program and address concerns about high salaries, merit, and the need for incentives. Everyone is already fully aware of the debacle around the program, so this proposal will be kept short and to the point.

## Brief timeline

1.  A program was created that:
    1.  Promised independence of a collective structure

**C: $120,000 per year is too high of a salary**

**A:** This is a competitive but in no way an unreasonably high salary. Fixating on rate is the wrong mentality and a sure way to hold back potential growth. We want to attract and retain top-tier, highly motivated talent, not mediocrely rated people that will deliver mediocre results.

**C: Merit & proof is needed before getting paid, passion will fuel them before that**

**A:** Quite frankly an insulting take. There's no passion to speak of when treating people like slave-labour ready interns. I myself would quit on the spot upon hearing this from any potential employment.

**C: People have other jobs & HA should be a full-time position**

**A:** HA **should** be a full-time position, but we can't expect them to blindly trust and take the plunge with everything that has happened so far. Guarantee of incentives needs to happen first.

**C: XYZ is a grifter and needs to be eliminated**

**A:** Let’s entertain this idea for a bit and suppose that there are "grifters". This needs to be dealt with discreetly, in an isolated manner. What we do not need is any sort of heavy-handed scorched-earth tactic that will hurt and turn away everyone, including people that can and will drive Polkadot forward. Which is magnitudes worse than driving away a couple of _maybe_ grifters.

**C: The program needs to be reset, spending needs revaluation & more governmental structure is required, etc**

**A:** What **IS NEEDED** is for DOT to go to +$100, and to get there we need actions, performed by people! All of this pivoting & constant virtue signalling needs to stop. These are talented and self-respecting individuals, not guinea pigs to be experimented on, nor do we want to attract/promote such people, which will happen if the program is reset.

Funding the Ambassador Program

We are discussing a proposal for a research project about OpenGov, a new governance system for the Polkadot network. The project is based on a request for proposals (RFP) from the Web3 Foundation (W3F). OpenGov was introduced on Kusama in November 2022 and later on Polkadot in June 2023. The goal of this research is to study how people participate in OpenGov and understand their motivations, obstacles, and patterns.

The research will look at questions like:
1. What does OpenGov participation look like?
2. Are there incentives for participating in OpenGov?
3. What obstacles do people face when participating in OpenGov?
4. Who are the people participating in OpenGov?
5. Why do people participate in OpenGov?
6. Are there trends in discussions outside of OpenGov?
7. Are there patterns in how people vote on OpenGov?

We will collect and analyze data from OpenGov and ask questions to the participants. I'm opening a discussion about the proposal we intend to submit on OpenGov. 

This proposal is based on the [Action Research for OpenGov RFP](https://github.com/w3f/Grants-Program/blob/master/docs/RFPs/action_research_opengov.md), posted in the W3F grants program. As described in the RFP, OpenGov was introduced as a new governance system for the Polkadot ecosystem in November 2022 on Kusama, before being deployed on Polkadot in June 2023. There is a need for more encompassing, neutral, practical, and actionable case studies of OpenGov’s implementations, which can help establish a feedback mechanism and prioritize future developments for OpenGov. The RFP lists four examples of research regarding OpenGov. We are interested in researching Example 3, “An analysis of Governance participation on OpenGov implementations”. 

The problem we intend to investigate is understanding the participation in OpenGov regarding its incentives, obstacles, profiles, motivations, trends, and patterns. In this way, the methodology proposed for the research includes the collection and analysis of OpenGov on-chain and off-chain data together with complementary data to be asked from the participants. As a result, we intend to publish a full research article with reasonable answers to the following questions:

1.  What does participation in OpenGov look like?
2.  Are there incentives for OpenGov participation?
3.  Are there obstacles to OpenGov participation?
4.  What are the profiles of OpenGov participants?
5.  What are the motivations of OpenGov participants?

Research: RFP Action Research for OpenGov

Peranto is a project that wants to create a digital identity and legal compliance application for Latin America. They need $100,000 to build a simple version of their idea in 8 months. They think their project can change how things work now and work with important groups like lawyers and universities. They tried to get money other ways, but it didn't work. They hope the Polkadot community will support them because it will help the whole system grow. This proposal outlines the development of Peranto, the first Latam-focused decentralized application (dApp) for digital identity and legal compliance, built on KILT and Polkadot. Submitted to the Polkadot Treasury, the project seeks $100,000 USD in funding to build an MVP over eight months, targeting legal professionals and expanding digital identity solutions across Latin America. The proposal details the product's potential to disrupt traditional markets, partnerships with legal associations, and strategic plans to bring Web3 solutions to enterprises, governments, and users.

Why this proposal can be successful? 

Once the product is ready for market, the product will be used by at least 200 lawyers focused on civil and digital rights across Latam, it will be used by the International Telecommunication Union, and an specialized fintech university with high rank students from many industries and companies. 

Why is not built right now? 

The KILT SDK has upgraded, and after 9 months of raising capital without success there's something called the "Valley of Death", despite having once a PoC and a working product, a startup needs money to keep going. 

Why not apply for W3F grants? There are no grants, and the grants were focused on infrastructure and chains, out of Peranto CGo scope. 

Why not apply to KILT?

Why not VCs? They don't care about web3 stuff, remember the NFT summer of 2021? Well, a lot of them don't want to be reminded of it or know nothing about web3, so they don't care. 

Why the treasury? If the Polkadot community can't see the benefits of creating dApps for the ecosystem and bring use cases, well, Polkadot is doomed to be misunderstood and to go through the Valley of Death.

We already have been talking with Hong Kong Lawyers, but we still want to contact different lawyers around the world that can help us to launch on a global scale. Our first market will be Asia, then Latin America, because both continents have a big adoption.

**Milestone 2:  Vehicle Tokenizer Tool**

**Description:**  Complete the Development of a Legally-Compliant Real World Asset Tokenizer.

      Our solution, the "Proof of Law" mechanism, will digitize real-world asset ownership. By utilizing existing ecosystem substrate pallets (Identity, NFT, etc), we will customize them to meet specific legal requirements for tokenizing vehicles. One of the greatest challenges in tokenizing real-world assets is establishing a verifiable legal connection between digital tokens and their physical counterparts. With our legaltech solution and expertise we will ensure the real legal document representation of the digital asset.

     It is important to mention that we created a v1 of this tool as a POC in the OneBlock+ Hackathon, but we still need to improve it. 

**Milestone 3: Ricardian Contracts Tool.**

**Description**: Build Ricardian Contract Factory Pallet for Vehicle Purchases.

     By combining legaltech, legal design, cryptography and blockchain infrastructure, we will create Smart-Legal Contracts , also known as Ricardians Contracts, as the core of our AppChain. This will enable smoother, legally-enforceable transactions in the real world through our Marketplace. The first Version of these Ricardian Contract Factory Pallet will focus on commercial sales.

The [polkadot-typed-api](https://www.npmjs.com/package/polkadot-typed-api) library does not introduce new methods but wraps existing API calls in convenient functions that return typed data. This allows developers to use the Polkadot API with explicit type declarations, significantly reducing the likelihood of errors and simplifying the development process.

**Current Results**

Currently, the library covers about 5% of all available methods, with an emphasis on 20% of query calls. We plan to significantly increase this coverage, aiming to reach 50% for query calls by the end of 2024 and 100% by the end of 2025.

**Challenges and Issues**

One of the main challenges is the detailed study of tx calls, each of which requires considerable time investment. We are actively working on this task; however, it demands additional resources and time for comprehensive analysis.

**UPDATE:**

In the course of discussions with the community, we have chosen a new direction for our development: instead of manually defining types, we will implement dynamic type generation. This approach will be included in the second version of the library.

Dynamic type generation is crucial as it allows for real-time adaptation to changes in the Polkadot API, ensuring that the library remains current with the latest updates and enhancements. This will not only streamline our development process but also provide developers with a more robust and flexible toolset, reducing the likelihood of errors associated with manual typing.

As a result of this strategic shift, we have updated our timelines. We now plan to complete work on reading methods, achieving 100% coverage by the end of 2024, which will be included in version 2.0. Following that, we will focus on transaction methods, with completion targeted for Q1 2025.
