Context 

Where the live events are becoming a highly-proven model, we believe that there's tremendous opportunity in produced livestreams. Our vision is to partner with large dance music streaming channels, book artists with incredible social reach, and engage with Polkadot teams to create in-stream drops. Based on other successful live streams that our team has been apart of, we anticipate high levels of engagement and will continue to produce more of these in the future. 

**Why Music and Web3?**

On many levels, music is an incredible vertical where blockchain can solve real world issues and create a higher quality and more equitable outcome for the fans and the artists. Polkadot should, and can be a phenomenal arena for music in web3 to grow and incubate necessary advances in technology and culture, alike. Many Polkadot projects already have products that can actively help advance this, directly and immediately, through the experience around live music events. 

We think of these events as a clever way to accomplish a few things that are ultimately required for the growth of the ecosystem- more specifically onboarding new users, new entrepreneurs and new developers. 

How are we accomplishing this?

Glad you asked! Each event will focus on three key elements to funnel into our larger goal for adoption and usage. 

Accessibility - Prioritizing an intuitive experience for ALL attendees

Hard and Fast Implementation - UX/ UI builds and backend abstraction, specific to the event series, but open source for the community. This gives developers a chance to work together on the specific needs of the events while having a vehicle for easy user onboarding.

Ownership and Perpetuity - A focus on creating brand loyalty through community, collectibles, cross-ecosystem collaboration and compounded benefits for ongoing/ repeat attendance. 

These three principles help us define the conditions for success and measure qualitative and quantitative outcomes. 

For our events, the goal is to take measurable and attainable steps in implementing new attendee experiences and advancing the music tech stack.   

Who is on the team?

The PMEI has four core members dedicated to the curation, planning and execution of all twelve events. In addition to these core members, partner teams will provide direct support and resources to create successful outcomes. 

The Core Team

Spencer Zabiela:  Co-founder of MuFi, a music and royalty payments tech stack built on Polkadot. 10 + years of experience in the music industry. Spencer also has a background in media and capital markets and has been a long time participant of the nightlife community and event organizing (most recently the September 19th Mainnet side event with Exiled Racers and Zeitgeist and the official 2024 ETH Denver closing party. 

Walker Music (Jojo Walker):  WM consists of four full-time coordinators, led by Jojo Walker. Jojo is a music industry entrepreneur with 15+ years of experience as a talent buyer and coordinator for the largest global nightlife brands, venues and labels, including Defected Records, Halcyon SF and Avant Gardner/ Brooklyn Mirage. 

Contracted Dev/ TSM: This will be a hybrid role with candidates in mind, but is yet to be hired. The responsibilities for this job will include full-stack development and technical success; working with parachain teams and dapps on strong collaborative outcomes. This candidate will also be managing the communications across entities, and technical expectations between team integrations and Walker Music Services. 

Er-Ti Chen: Previously, Ecosystem Marketing Manager and Global Event Program Manager at Parity Technologies. She has been instrumental in pioneering Polkadot's ecosystem marketing efforts and shaping the global event strategies for Polkadot Ecosystem. She has both spearheaded and provided invaluable support to the Polkadot community in orchestrating successful events throughout Europe, North America, Asia, and Africa.

The ED proposal is a plan to distribute DED tokens to DOT holders. It was created by Ramsey from Decentration.org. They want to give out Existential Deposits (EDs) to everyone who gets DED tokens. They asked for 31,200 DOT to make this happen.

But, the DOTisDED team changed their minds. They now want to use a DED Bounty Fund instead of this proposal. The community also agreed with this change, which led to Referendum #556.

The person who made the proposal thinks that using a DED Bounty Fund will give DED a better chance of success. They believe that trying to make a very valuable token with a small budget is not a good idea. So, they decided to cancel this proposal and let the DED Bounty Fund happen instead.

Talisman's second Polkadot treasury proposal seeks funding for feature development, UX improvement, and QA testing from May to September 2023. They have over 80,000 users and have received over 6 million DOT in contributions.

Talisman's mission is to make Polkadot easy to use by focusing on user design, advocacy, and building. They believe that a user-focused approach is necessary for Polkadot's growth and success. Talisman has received positive feedback from the ecosystem for their work on improving the wallet user experience.

In 2023, Talisman is focusing on several initiatives, including diverse hardware wallet support, account management and organization, worldwide usability, transaction comprehension, native multi-seed management, and going open source. They also continue to make general UI improvements, bug fixes, and manage QA and releases.

The proposal requests $742,750 USD worth of DOT to cover the period from March to September 2023 for both Talisman Wallet and Talisman Portal.

This is Talisman Wallet’s second Polkadot treasury proposal. This proposal seeks retroactive funding for feature development, UX improvement, and QA testing for Talisman Wallet over May to Sept 2023, and Talisman Portal from March to Sept 2023. As of Feb 2024, Talisman achieved over 80,000 users as measured by the Chrome/Firefox app stores, and has garnered contributions of over 6 million DOT to its nomination pools.

Hardware wallets and signers are the gold standard for security of funds, given the need to provide consumers with ways to protect private keys and seed phrases. Consumers need to be able to use a diverse set of hardware wallets with Talisman. In addition to supporting Ledger devices, Talisman has integrated D'Cent Wallet.

## Account Management and Organization

Talisman users have multiple accounts with different purposes, such as personal funds, gaming wallets, multisig signers, cold storage or work accounts. An installation can become confusing when accounts of different purposes are mixed together. Talisman has added address book improvements during this period, and will add folders afterwards.

## Worldwide Usability

Generally crypto revolves around “universal conventions” such as the English language and USD-denomination of funds. However, these are adopted legacy conventions from web2 that are non-intuitive for many of Talisman’s worldwide users. We have added features such as multi-language support and multi-currency support, so that users can better understand their crypto assets and actions they take.

## Transaction Comprehension

Blockchain is a machine protocol, and the native units and transactions are oriented to computer rather than human consumption and understanding. It’s the job of dapps, wallets and other blockchain front-ends to enable users to comprehend the actions they take, which is a direct requirement for operating in a secure way.

## Native Multi-Seed Management

Talisman originally organized around a single root account, however many users nowadays use multiple seed phrases / private keys and the restriction of a single root account became a hindrance. We have begun to update the “plumbing” to a new seed store with support for multiple seeds, each which can support multiple derived accounts.

## Open Source

As the fulfillment of a longstanding promise to be a community-driven wallet, Talisman went open source with a GPL3 license.

## General UI Improvements, Bug Fixes, QA & Release Management

As always, Talisman undergoes regular improvements to general use and usability, as well as performs the following regular tasks: token balance support, documentation, QA, release management, Github repo management, dependency checks and security updates.

The OpenGov Community Voting Discord Bot project did not have enough money and was too hard to make. The person who made it got paid very little money for their work. Now, there is a new program called Decentralized Voices that helps people in the Polkadot community make decisions together. The Discord bot is important for this program because it helps people start new groups to make decisions. The person who made the bot wants more money to finish the bot and add new features. They want the Polkadot community to give them more money so they can make the bot better and help more people.

In the wake of the initial funding phase for the OpenGov Community Voting Discord Bot, it's become evident that the resources provided fell significantly short of the project's demands, resulting in a development effort that stretched my capabilities thin. Reflecting on this, the compensation for my work, averaging around $6 per hour, did not align with the project's complexity or the prevailing market rates for such technical expertise. This realization has led to a critical reassessment of the funding needs to ensure the project's continued evolution and success. With the recent launch of the Decentralized Voices (DV) program by the Web3 Foundation, which sees Polkadot community members and DAOs receiving voting delegations, the significance of the Discord bot has magnified. This initiative marks a pivotal moment for community-driven governance, and the bot emerges as an indispensable tool for swiftly establishing new DAOs. I've engaged with several DV recipients keen on integrating the bot within their communities, highlighting its crucial role in facilitating this new wave of governance participation. This proposal, therefore, seeks to address the previous funding gap and to expedite the completion of pending features from the initial proposal. Moreover, it introduces additional functionalities like Polkassembly integration and 'Solo Mode', among others, that are essential for enhancing the bot's utility across the ecosystem. By securing additional funding, I aim to dedicate my full attention to the project, ensuring the rapid development and deployment of the bot to support the burgeoning needs of the Decentralized Voices program and the wider Polkadot community.
