Polkadot's social media management is decentralized, with contributions from ET90266, the Polkadot Social Media Editorial Board (EB), and Distractive. The EB has five members, and there is a proposal to fund their salary for a 6-month term. Each member would receive 2,500 USDT per month. The Web3 Foundation legally owns Polkadot's social media accounts and has entrusted ET90266 to manage them. The EB works with ET90266 and Distractive for content creation and brand alignment. -   In the future, the community may enact a Wish-for-Change stating that _all_ marketing-related proposals go through the Marketing Bounty. In that case, a proposal like this may go through the Marketing Bounty if the community feels that is the appropriate channel.
-   By going directly through OpenGov, the Editorial Board answers to the community and not the curators of a bounty.

**Problem statement:** 

Game developers hate crypto and are are filled with negative sentiments around the industry, and yet gaming has frequently led the adoption of new technologies. Polkadot needs game developers.

**Goal:** Educate non-crypto-native game developers on the benefits and challenges of blockchain gaming through an honest and accessible documentary featuring Polkadot ecosystem tech and teams and organically onboarding curious developers into our ecosystem.

**TLDR;**  
— The Documentary is already done.  
— It's been ENTIRELY self funded, including international flights, hotels, etc.

**Potential FAQ:**

**Have I ever been compensated for any of my content, sponsored, or even applied somewhere for compensation?**  
No.

**Why USDT?**  
It’s a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation. Some might argue that asking for a retroactive tip in DOT when its value is arguably low seems opportunistic. Others could say that asking for stablecoins eliminates skin in the game. I chose USDT this time as the most neutral way, as it’s currently favored by today’s community social consensus. And after all, this is retroactive compensation, not for future. Ideally, I believe a better approach will be partial vested DOT for initiatives like this (when it’s available), aligning the proposer’s future actions with the network.

**Why $15K?**  
There’s no one concrete way to assess outreach contributions in crypto. It’s a mix of subjective judgment, some metrics—most of which can be gameable—and a sense of indispensability.

Content creators similar to me, in terms of quality and genuine engagement, can be typically rewarded between $20K to $50K from newly emerging projects through airdrops or from existing ones via retroactive rewards.

But, this is not standardized and varies. Therefore, from my perspective, the best option is to do a heat check—request the amount and see the response.

Previously in March, I was tipped through OpenGov, receiving close to $10K. This time, I based my retroactive request on a monthly compensation range of $2K to $2.5K. Surely, this range reflects my self-assessment of the impact I believe I’ve made here.

I worked as a Helper Ambassador (HA) for the past 3 months and now I'm asking for a reward. I will keep working to make the ambassador program better and I will keep leading "The Core" team. We have a special event called "Blockspace" that happens every 3 months to show people what Polkadot is and how to use it. Getting elected as HA was a motivation to set up a team aimed at incubating talent and putting the spotlight on Polkadot, in a project named \`The Core\`. I've funded some initiatives of the team with my own funds, and hope to continue doing that until it's able to secure funding from the treasury.

I'll continue working with interested parties to reform the ambassadorship program, and I'll continue working with/leading \`The Core\` team to carry out its activities, one of which is a quarterly **Blockspace** event aimed at "showing" people what Polkadot is and how to use it and its tools. Artists can manage their smart contracts as they wish, and the platform provides flexibility with a simple protocol. FanSociety also enables artists to give back to their fans with physical or digital goods.

TL;DR

FanSociety provides a platform for musicians to deploy and manager their own smart contract, this smart contract is a mechanism that allows musicians to accept donations, and mint a proof of donation to the donator. The smart contract is designed to grow with a musician through their entire career and works to segment donators into cohorts of supporters that we call generations. The smart contract is unopinionated, so different artists can manage their smart contract how they want to. Opposing methodologies would be to treat every supporter distinctly (NFT), or treat every supporter equally; FanSociety falls somewhere in the middle, this provides flexibility with a single simple protocol. Finally, with an on-chain ledger of supporters, artists are then able to give back to their fans with physical or digital goods. This is not a quid-pro-quo protocol; it is deeply rooted in ideas of the gift economy. It is also a new concept, that uses old ideas, so I ask that you give your brain a minute to really try to understand it.

-   **A minimally extractive rev-share model**: Many large organizations take up to 50% of earnings on their platform (think Twitch, Apple's App Store) or rev share starts low, locks the user into the paltform and then raises rev share over time. We detest this business model as it's maximially extractive from the creators. The FanSociety protocol is minimally extractive. Read the 'Transparency Paper' for lower level details.

FanSociety - an on-chain fan club protocol for musicians and fans

We are discussing a proposal for a research project about OpenGov, a new governance system for the Polkadot network. The project is based on a request for proposals (RFP) from the Web3 Foundation (W3F). OpenGov was introduced on Kusama in November 2022 and later on Polkadot in June 2023. The goal of this research is to study how people participate in OpenGov and understand their motivations, obstacles, and patterns.

The research will look at questions like:
1. What does OpenGov participation look like?
2. Are there incentives for participating in OpenGov?
3. What obstacles do people face when participating in OpenGov?
4. Who are the people participating in OpenGov?
5. Why do people participate in OpenGov?
6. Are there trends in discussions outside of OpenGov?
7. Are there patterns in how people vote on OpenGov?

We will collect and analyze data from OpenGov and ask questions to the participants. I'm opening a discussion about the proposal we intend to submit on OpenGov. 

This proposal is based on the [Action Research for OpenGov RFP](https://github.com/w3f/Grants-Program/blob/master/docs/RFPs/action_research_opengov.md), posted in the W3F grants program. As described in the RFP, OpenGov was introduced as a new governance system for the Polkadot ecosystem in November 2022 on Kusama, before being deployed on Polkadot in June 2023. There is a need for more encompassing, neutral, practical, and actionable case studies of OpenGov’s implementations, which can help establish a feedback mechanism and prioritize future developments for OpenGov. The RFP lists four examples of research regarding OpenGov. We are interested in researching Example 3, “An analysis of Governance participation on OpenGov implementations”. 

The problem we intend to investigate is understanding the participation in OpenGov regarding its incentives, obstacles, profiles, motivations, trends, and patterns. In this way, the methodology proposed for the research includes the collection and analysis of OpenGov on-chain and off-chain data together with complementary data to be asked from the participants. As a result, we intend to publish a full research article with reasonable answers to the following questions:

1.  What does participation in OpenGov look like?
2.  Are there incentives for OpenGov participation?
3.  Are there obstacles to OpenGov participation?
4.  What are the profiles of OpenGov participants?
5.  What are the motivations of OpenGov participants?

Research: RFP Action Research for OpenGov

The polkadot-typed-api library aims to improve the Polkadot ecosystem by providing a typed access to the Polkadot API, making development more convenient and safe. Currently, the library covers 5% of all available methods, focusing on 20% of query calls. The goal is to increase coverage to 50% for query calls by the end of 2024 and 100% by the end of 2025. The library will simplify API interaction, increase code security, accelerate development, and expand the developer community. The [polkadot-typed-api](https://www.npmjs.com/package/polkadot-typed-api) library does not introduce new methods but wraps existing API calls in convenient functions that return typed data. This allows developers to use the Polkadot API with explicit type declarations, significantly reducing the likelihood of errors and simplifying the development process.

**Current Results**

Currently, the library covers about 5% of all available methods, with an emphasis on 20% of query calls. We plan to significantly increase this coverage, aiming to reach 50% for query calls by the end of 2024 and 100% by the end of 2025.

**Challenges and Issues**

One of the main challenges is the detailed study of tx calls, each of which requires considerable time investment. We are actively working on this task; however, it demands additional resources and time for comprehensive analysis.

**UPDATE:**

In the course of discussions with the community, we have chosen a new direction for our development: instead of manually defining types, we will implement dynamic type generation. This approach will be included in the second version of the library.

-   **A minimally extractive rev-share model**: Many large organizations take up to 50% of earnings on their platform (think Twitch, Apple's App Store) or rev share starts low, locks the user into the paltform and then raises rev share over time. We detest this business model as it's maximially extractive from the creators. The FanSociety protocol is minimally extractive. Read the 'Transparency Paper' for lower level details.
-   A**n unopinionated NFT smart contract**: We provide a simple protocol that makes it flexible for each artist to manage their community according to their needs. There are no time based requirements or limited number of NFTs. One smart contract can serve an artist's entire career.

The Polkadot ecosystem currently lacks a well-maintained and audited **sr25519** npm package in a pure JavaScript/TypeScript implementation. While the **@noble/ed25519** package is already available and utilized by Polkadot-JS over **@polkadot/wasm-crypto** for handling BigInt operations, there is no equivalent for **sr25519**. This gap presents a challenge for developers who require a reliable and efficient way to work with **sr25519** in native JS/TS within the Polkadot ecosystem, particularly when dealing with large numbers that exceed JavaScript's standard Number primitive. Filling this gap with a properly maintained package would enhance developer reach and flexibility across the ecosystem.

## **Edgetributor SubDAO’s role**

We came across the noble packages while preparing for our next project. We found that there is the ed25519 package which can be used with some patchy ways for our implementation. Then we came across the discussion on a [closed issue by ntn-x2](https://github.com/paulmillr/noble-curves/issues/68) where Paul showed interest in the integration of the sr25519 curve, subject to sponsorship availability. So we followed up with him and he wanted to pursue this further. Considering the impact of Paul’s work on the whole web3 space, we decided to voluntarily curate his proposal and take care of all the administrative work (as per his request). The entire amount corresponding to this proposal and the audit sponsorship proposal (yet to be proposed) will go to him and the auditing entity. In this whole process, Edgetributor SubDAO or Edgeware DAO or any Edgeware contributors are not getting financially benefited by any means.

# **Budget and Timeline**

**Budget distribution:**

-   Part a (sign, verify, Point, pubkey) would take up to 1 working week, costing a maximum of 10000 USD for implementation. It could have been smaller, but it uses Merlin, which further utilizes Strobe.
-   Part b (hdkd, ~~musig,~~ vrf) would take up to 1 working week, thus the implementation would cost a maximum of ~~10000~~ 8000 USD. {Depending upon the viability, we might have a separate [@scure](https://paulmillr.com/noble/#scure)/sr25519 package for the ~~musig and/or~~ vrf instead of including ~~them~~ it under @noble/curves/sr25519.}

**Notable terms:**

-   If the development finishes earlier than 2 work weeks, the corresponding unused funds will be returned.
-   Paul suggested the Cure53 auditing firm which doesn’t need any upfront payment. He received the all-included quotation of 22500 EUR for a maximum total of 18 working days.
-   However, Cure53 is booked until January. So he is open to getting the auditing done through any other auditing firms. We are already discussing this with an auditing firm having an earlier availability. If anyone from the community knows of any auditing firms available within 1-2 months, feel free to suggest them in the comments.
-   For now, this proposal will be proposed for only the development of the @noble/curves/sr25519 package and another proposal can be proposed for the auditing after the development.
-   Paul requested payment through Github Sponsorships. For the same, we will buy 8-10 prepaid Visa/Mastercard cards using USDT which will incur 4-10% fees. We will share proof of the prepaid cards’ purchases and the unused fee buffer amount for the fiat conversion will be returned to the treasury.

Following our past efforts, the Bitskwela team is committed to ramping up our Polkadot-related initiatives locally. Over the last few quarters, we've deepened our involvement in the ecosystem, and our confidence in Polkadot's potential has only grown stronger.

Of course, Bitskwela’s planned incoming efforts won’t be executed alone. We have received the support of the likes of Polkadot Insider, OpenGuild, and HA Max Rebol in terms of guidance and advisory.

**What can you expect with this following proposal?**

In the following week, Bitskwela will submit a small-spender funding proposal to help us mount different planned Polkadot initiatives, alongside Polkadot Insider and OpenGuild, in the Philippines. This proposal consists of the following initiatives planned for the next six (6) months:

1.  Eight (8) Polkadot-related Short Guides
    1.  _Past twenty (20) short-guides on Polkadot will be updated and enhanced_
    2.  _Short guide content and IPs will be shared with Open Guild for public good, educational usage_

We want to create a free notification service for Coretime. This service will help three groups of people:

1. Parachain teams: They will get reminders to renew Coretime and can use the service for other things too. We will make the tool open source, so they can use it or make their own version.

2. Token holders: They will get warnings if a parachain is about to stop making new blocks because it doesn't have enough Coretime.

3. Coretime traders: They will get updates on when to buy Coretime at the best price.

## Summary

With this proposal, we are looking to develop a free notification service related to Coretime.

We are aware of applications like Web3alert. However, after looking into our proposal, there should be a clear distinction between the two services.

**The tool we are looking to build has three main purposes:**

-   **Provide notifications for parachain teams.**
    -   This can serve as a reminder for the team to renew Coretime; however, it can also be used for other purposes.  
          
        Some parachains may want to self-host such a service. Because of this, we are making the notifier tool open source and well-documented. To facilitate self-hosting, we are also making the frontend open source and providing an option for users to select the notifier API that the frontend will communicate with. This way, parachain teams do not need to host the frontend themselves but can simply reuse what we provide.  
          
        On top of such a notifier, programs can be implemented to renew, fund the sovereign account, or purchase Coretime when notified that only a few remain.
-   **Provide notifications for token holders.**
    -   The notification service can also be used to warn token holders if the parachain isn’t allocated Coretime and is about to stop block production.  
          
        When tracking a parachain, the notifier will also alert users about other potential issues. For example, if a parachain is allocated Coretime with provisional finality, the account that allocated Coretime can unallocate it at any time. This could cause the parachain to immediately stop block production.
-   **Provide notifications Coretime traders**
    -   In a bulk sale, Coretime can be purchased in two phases: the lead-in phase or the fixed price phase.  
          
        Ideally, Coretime is purchased in the fixed price phase since it has the lowest price. The lead-in phase functions like a Dutch auction, where the price starts high and gradually drops to the fixed price phase by the end. The later Coretime is purchased during the lead-in phase, the better the price; however, the longer users wait, the higher the risk that someone else will acquire the Coretime.  
          
        Such processes should be automated, rather than requiring someone to monitor the sale manually. The notifier will also be useful in these cases, as it allows for the development of programs that can respond to specific notifications (e.g., when only 5 cores are remaining on sale) and automatically purchase Coretime.

Here, teams are notified to renew, and even then, some teams miss the renewal. There is no reason why this process shouldn't be automated to prevent human errors.

Additionally, many teams are not fully aware of how the Coretime model works, leading to misunderstandings about when to renew. We know this because we have already experienced people reaching out, unsure about how things work. We don't blame them; deployment on Polkadot should be as easy as possible, without requiring teams to understand every detail. Currently, with the transition to Agile Coretime, we have complicated this process, and this proposal aims to fix the issue.

A notifier that clearly indicates when to renew would solve these problems. This can be easily automated, reducing the risk of missed renewals and preventing some chains from stalling. 

Additionally, such a tool would also be focused on regular users who hold tokens on parachains. Token holders should not need to monitor whether a parachain is about to stall due to a no Coretime allocation. This should be abstracted away from them, and they should receive warnings on time if there is no Coretime allocation.

Polkadot proposes to develop a free notification service related to Coretime to provide notifications for parachain teams, token holders, and Coretime traders. The tool will be open source and well-documented to facilitate self-hosting. Polkadot AI Navigator: Enhancing User Experience with an Intelligent Ecosystem Assistant Proposal

Token2049 is a big event where people talk about important things. Hack Seasons is a part of this event that has happened 8 times. It will happen in a big building in Singapore called the National Gallery. We need people from DAO to help talk about Polkadot at this event. There were many people at a similar event in Brussels, and we think there will be even more in Singapore. It's a good idea to get a special package for the event because it's cheaper now. The event will happen on September 19th, and there's a list of people who will talk there.

Participation in conferences during Token2049 is a crucial marketing move. Hack Seasons is an established conference that has been held on eight occasions to date. The venue in Singapore is the National Gallery, which hosted the ETHGlobal conference last year. As participation entails a booth, we require people from DAO who can represent Polkadot on stage and near the booth. At the previous conference in Brussels during EthCC, there were approximately 1,500 speakers and 50 speakers. In Singapore, we anticipate at least 2,000 attendees and 60 speakers. The early bird pricing is currently in effect, so it would be advantageous to grab a premium package. The conference will be held on September 19.
